Max Payne is a man with nothing to lose in the violent, cold urban night. A fugitive undercover cop framed for murder, hunted by cops and the mob, Max is a man with his back against the wall, fighting a battle he cannot hope to win.

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne is a violent, film-noir love story. Dark, tragic and intense, the in-depth story is a thrill-ride of shocking twists and revelations.

His life in ruins, Max Payne finds himself back in the NYPD. During a routine murder investigation he runs into Mona Sax, a woman he thought dead, a femme fatale murder suspect. She holds the keys to the questions that haunt him. But nothing is simple in the dark and tragic night of New York City. An army of underworld thugs stands between Max and the answers he seeks. His journey deeper into his own personal hell continues.

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne delivers an intense gameplay experience. It features fierce, yet stylish action sequences and the slow-motion gunplay that has become synonymous with the Max Payne series.

"The past is a puzzle, like a broken mirror. As you piece it together, you cut yourself, your image keeps shifting. And you change with it. It could destroy you, drive you mad. It could set you free."
I did love this game on my original xbox, but I would say it looks pretty horrible nowadays.
I remember the matrix mod or dojo mod
1 and 2 are excellent games from their respective years of release and I still would love to go back and play 2 as only completed it once way back but had completed 1 many times. Played a few hours through 3 but never got into it as much.
Bought one a while back but refunded due to when bullet time diving he always got glued to the floor :-(
Thanks for posting; we have added this thread to the Highlights pages
Max is such a Payne
Couldn't get into MP2 for some reason but played Max Payne 1 through many times. Truly a classic. Jack Lupino at Ragnarok grrrrr....

Given the state of the toilets in Max Payne 1, you really couldn't blame him
2 was somewhat short, but a better game and storyline.

1 was a good challenge when it was first released. Both are superb, and are easily in my top all-time top 10 shooters.

Would be Max Payne without that
Play 1 with the Kung Fu mod. Makes it so much more fun.
Got Max Payne 3 last night with all the DLCs for £4.80 on G2A.com. Its good fun. I needed to download a mod tho to skip the long cutsenes to get straight into the action !

Agreed.
2 was great too.
3 was terrible and should have never happened.

I enjoyed them all, agreed that 3 is the weakest and I really wish they stuck to the roots of the game but it's a good to olayy through in its own right.

3 didn’t feel like a Max Payne game at all.the whole dark, cold rainy theme was gone and replaced with a completely different theme.
also I hated the shaved head look.they completely ruined the characteristics of the game.
thats what happens when they wait too long to make a sequel.the vibe was gone.
