Max Payne 3 Special Edition (PC) £30 (includes game, 10" Max Payne statue, soundtrack, art prints, metal keychain, DLC) instore at Grainger Games (RRP £99.99) - £30

Found 10th Jul 2012
I was in Grainger Games before and saw a Max Payne 3 case with a £30 sticker on and another sticker saying it was the limited edition.

I thought it had to be a misprice so I asked and was told that it was indeed the special edition and the price had been reduced to £30 yesterday.

As far as I know this means it should be nationwide, but it's best to ring your local store to check stock first - I got the last one in my store (Liverpool). Store locator: graingergames.co.uk/stores

This is a great price as the RRP for this was £99.99, which is overpriced IMO. Zavvi are selling it for £72.95 at the moment so you're saving over £40 if you can find one.

Considering the cheapest price I could find for the standard edition was £24.99, I thought the special edition was well worth the extra. I have a photo of the receipt, will post it here.

This may be available on 360 and PS3 for the same price too, but I didn't check.

Special Edition contents:
Max Payne 3 - the game itself, obviously
10" Max Payne statue with stand
Official Soundtrack
Original Still Life art prints
Metal bullet-shaped keychain
Disorderly Conduct multiplayer weapons pack
Classic multiplayer character pack

RRR £99.99 is GROSS... don;t know who would pay that.
Most I've paid for a Collectors Edition was £49 for Batman Arkham City but that was right on the edge of what I deem acceptable.
Good deal for this though for anyone who is interested

Yeah, there's no way I'd pay nearly £100 for this, not even the price Zavvi are selling it for. Thought this was a good deal though as it's only £5 more expensive than the standard version is online.

The RRP of most collectors editions is getting silly these days.

They have stores? Don't think I've ever seen one in the south...

Edit: Any reason this is getting cold votes? It's £40 cheaper than anywhere else.

You have to buy the game seperately

No you don't, of course the game's included. I assumed it would be obvious the game is included with the special edition of the game...

Will edit the post then.

Three possible reasons:

a) Grainger Games... [ gizmodo.co.uk/201…nt/ ]

b) "Max Payne 3"

c) A Collector's Edition full of tat (regardless of price)

Thanks OP I'll go and have a look at my local Grainger this lunchtime - great price tbh and you can trade in against this making it even better considering that they price match CEX @ Grainger

Never heard that story of Grainger before. Definition of a PR disaster. Can't seem to find a live copy of their apology though.

You could always ask for one directly:

Update - I've been to my local store this lunchtime and this is definitely on and available - BUT it's also definitely PC only. The console versions are £50 each..

I decided against it at the alst moment as if you want MP3 on the PC its available much cheaper as a "standard edition", and in any case it's really not the sort of game that I enjoy playing on my PC...this sort of thing demands a comfy sofa and gamepad. Keyboard +mouse is superior for most games but not this kind of game imo.

Still a hot deal regardless

You voted cold because you couldn't get it?

Some people just don't deserve a vote, honestly.

The last two are surely not reasons to vote cold.

"Max Payne 3" isn't a reason, and whatever you think about the contents of the collector's edition, it's still £40 cheaper than anywhere else.

If somebody doesn't see the point in Collector's Editions, or like the game, then they may vote cold because of these reasons (or anything else subjective), if they wish to.

FYI: See comment #4 onwards in this thread:

Great Price, I paid £80 for mine on release day.... Shame about the shop.
My two local stores (Liverpool and Birkenhead) have absolute idiots working in there.
After reading the articles about how there senior staff behave, will never use this shop again even if there is a mega bargain to be had!

Agreed. However, some would consider that the knowledge about "the deal" extends to...

"Max Payne 3"
Collector's Editions,
PC games, &/or
Grainger Games.

I have not voted on this "Deal", although I can appreciate this is the lowest price this item has been at any retailer (that I have knowledge of) to date.

It isn't online only, it's instore only as far as I know. If you're in there again and they use the same line ask them to phone the Liverpool store. Receipt from when I got this in store is on the first page.
