A cheeky extra free game this month for Xbox Live Gold Members, was really surprised this worked.

Currently £11.99 from UK site but go to the Japan site and claim the game for free.8)

Um, ok, that worked. Cheers matey
Not sure if it's something Microsoft actively pursue, but people have been banned in the past for changing regions to claim other region's free games with gold. They turn a blind eye to cross region purchases, but there's certainly been bannings in the past (again, not sure if it's still a thing) for changing regions to get free games. Given that the game in question is regularly sold for <£1 on cdkeys hardly seems worth the effort / possible risk.

No changes to region settings are required to claim this, simply using a different url.
Heard people get banned for doing this. Think I paid 99p from CDKeys a while back for it.

I've heard this is naughty too, not worth the risk for this game!
Ive claimed a few of these in the past with no ban and there are couple of members on here that have done it for years with no bans.... Benjammin or whatever his name is I think is one...

I claimed this a few months back when it was up somewhere...

The Banner Saga 2
and Spolosions man are also available this month...

getting a working link is trickier!

You might get banned for changing regional settings too much, this deal is not the same. Others point out this may be an urban legend

Thanks very much.

This was the first games with gold game for the rest of the world... weird they decide to give it to Japan now X) Worth a play if you never got it first time around.

That's the main point, people were changing their account regions to get them - a change of the console region, while not endorsed as such by MS has been said as absolutely fine on numerous occasions

Edit: Looking at the history looks like this is the 9th time Japan has had this X)

Looking at the reviews for the Yu-Gi-Oh game it appears that it doesn't actually unlock the full game for some reason, just a trial. Worth a try though either way if its your thing.
I keep forgetting to check the Japanese gold games lately...thanks for the heads up.

Is it just me or do those links open to the UK store?

Yeah, they do. I can't change your region settings

(or maybe I can, it was just easier to do it that way)

Easiest way is to just find the code and change it. For example the ja-jp is japans so change the bit on the url that says "en-gb" to "ja-jp". Works most of the time but if you switch pages it'll often re-correct the region

The top link take me to the Japanese page without changing region, it seems to work with some and not others, most bizarre.. as from the Japan Games with gold page... when I click one it takes me to the Japanese page but when I click spolsions man it takes me to GB one!

very very strange!
microsoft.com/ko-…c=1

microsoft.com/en-…5NG

doesn't seem to work with Spolsions man - I think its the backward compatible element as the website handles those differently... even from the Japan page it tries to charge me £6.75

360 games can't be purchased cross region, unfortunately.

just because you have not doesn't mean others haven't been banned not really worth the risk no matter how small for a game that goes for less £1 quite often on cdkeys

From all my read that is a completely different scenario... that was when you had to change the location/manipulate the system? this is clicking on a link.

Like you say just coz some people did three years ago in a different situation completely doesn't mean that others will.

Using this actual situation and system I have been fine, all I can give you is a first hand experience of this use of games with gold claiming....

As for people that were banned three years ago using a different system, you are right... my current situation and experience is irrelevant...

When I claimed a game from a glitch code that was posted on here.. Microsoft mailed me and just took the game back... said it was given in error... I still had the said game downloaded but it wouldnt let me boot it up... its seems that they now adopt that system rather than throw away a customer over a cheap give away game, they instead block the use of the game... Of course that's just my opinion and experience.

Read through all this and it's specific to Xbox 360 not the one.
