I know these have been coming up quite a lot recently, but again, i've found these cheaper than the ones on scan and ebuyer.

Seem to be the same ones as at scan but unbranded.

Great was looking for these heat and rep added

Really good price. Homeplugs work well for me at home. No drop-outs like I used to get with wireless.

One thing that's worth knowing though is that they do best when plugged directly into the wall socket. Extension leads reduce the signal strength significantly, although 2-way or 3-way plug adapters like this: maplin.co.uk/Mod…185 seem to be okay. Some surge suppressors / power filters can cause signal reduction as well.

These are a piece of pee to get working. Plug one in at the router end and connect it to the router's ethernet port. Plug the second one in at the PC end and connect it to the PC's ethernet card. Job done! If you want more PCs to be connected just use more homeplugs!

I can vouch for the quality of these as I bought a set just before Christmas. Heat and rep added!

Might be worth a look if I go back to ADSL... Virgin are shocking when it comes to trying to get a deal out of 'em!

hi there

Iam thinking of these for a friend but their setp is not the same as mine and I'm not a big fan of networking -

they have a pc connected to a really tiny modem box, with just one connection and a power lead, the lead from this goes from this box to the pc and a lead from the wall to this box

am I right in assuming that I would plug this into the little box and plug the other end to the pc

now how do I get the laptop to work in the other room?

I have the laptop, its power cable and what else would I need

Sorry to be a Dumb A$$ here

Just had a look around and Scan have them for £34.47 Inc VAT but delivery is £6.99:( making them £42.50

The really tiny modem box sounds like it could be a USB modem. Does it connect to a USB port or to the ethernet? (USB is a long thin connector at the PC end, ethernet is nearly square and looks like a phone cable connector for old fashioned modems). If it is a USB modem you would have to replace that with an ADSL router.

So is it connected to a USB port or to the ethernet port on the PC?
While you are checking, can you also check that the PC does have an ethernet port?

i will pop round as its my friend im sorting this for....

im also positive its a ethernet cable from the wall to the back of this modem

Im usually okay with things like this, since I set up my own network quite easily - but using a modem adsl router and before that with cable, with a cable router, all had numerous additional sokets for plugging in further computers

this one is completely different - one box, one cable - i will try and get a picture of it and post if possible as they have no instructions

I have these They work quite well, but they ocasionally just stop working randomly. I am on my second set and my first set just stopped working randomly
