Very sadly I ripped all my top 40 tapes to MP3....Crackly radio, poor edit and clips of radio 1 dj's all left in. Took me days to do. Even worse I still kept the tapes.
Must get a life.
TheSweeney

and they'd always talk over the best bits of the songs too.

I lived under the Heathrow flight path, most of my recordings were punctuated with pilots radioing in. I had a great recording of Roy Chubby Brown's "Who the **** is Alice" with a pilot reporting that he was climbing to 30,000 feet, perfectly between verses lol.

My finger is hovering over the buy it button but the 4W speaker putting me off...do you think you could connect to a bluetooth speaker?

4 watt boombox loud enough if you live in a shoebox.

..Or upload them to Piratebay* so others can enjoy them. X)

I remember the half hour Rock FM "Megamixes" they used to do, happy days.

You could but might be better to buy this, chuck in the bin and connect phone to bluetooth speaker. If you really want the warble, hiss and muffled sounds for that authentic tape sound consider wrapping your speaker in cloth and put it underwater.

LOVED my 3D Superwoofer in the late 80's! Moved to a seaside town in Cornwall in '87 where all the 'cool kids' used to hang around on the beach in the summer with their lame radio's and tape decks. My Hitachi literally turned heads when I first strolled along the beach with it nestled on my shoulder and my new 'gang' of local mates

Thanks for the nostalgic reference and memories ;-)
Heat for the description even if the product will be a pile of authentic cheap n' nasty 80's tat....

Yeah I remember my first Panasonic RX-C37 boom box, everyone turned to look as I strolled down the avenue with my butler carrying it on his shoulder while booming out some cracking Ludvig Van B.
Thanks also for the nostalgic memories

Genuine laugh out loud moment for the old skool insult...
Would've loved this if it had digital radio! Anyone know of anything similar?

You made me laugh! had to remember my own recordings littered with my brother coming into my room and talking and lots of colourful language from me!

With this kinda thing it really is worth just buying an old one off ebay.
Much higher quality and sound output.

Mind you that wasn't the only crime the radio 1 dj's committed back then....(_;)

I hadn't listened to radio for years thanks to living in the 21st century and the choices we now have for consuming and discovering music. Recently started a new design job in an office that favours 6 Music, and from what I can hear, it's no better than Radio 1 back in the day of tape recordings.

DJs that love the sound of their own voices, same narrow playlist of tunes on constant rotation and the added bonus of being embarrassingly pretentious as they seem to think 6 Music is somehow cool. It's really not.

Thank heaven for streaming, headphones and choice

Also looking for one if anyone knows of anything. Tape, cd and dab radio would be ideal
Does the Aldi Boombox have Dolby B or C noise reduction for that authentic hiss-free and muffled sound?
ha ha looks good just need to find one

Budgie smugglers definitely not, oversized boom box definitely. It drowned out the jealous sneering.

That is pure class and put a smile on my face in work which for a Friday is a rarity! Power to the Adidas Troopers...much respect.
For me though it was the 'Dixons' range of 'Matsui' twin cassette decks....sitting there for hours praying that your 65th attempt at copying 'Commando' for the C64 via tape to tape would work.....think mine had big detachable speakers also.....oh the sweet and innocent days of pirating a £1.99 tape from John Menzies (I condone any form of piracy *cough*)
