wonder if it's better to get 2x 1tb drives from ebuyer for £20 more? (link for 1tb £59.99 a bit further down)

Well you do get a bit more gigage (is that even a word! lol) with the 1tb but then you will have to buy external cases if you are having them external.:)

what's this ebuyer are allowed deals again?

Surely eBUYER are OK - eBAY not?

EDIT: I have just seen others give a reason for it ..... sorry

this deal has been here for a while.. not sure why this thread is on the front page (Amazon thread is still going, and it mentions ebuyer, who I thought were banned for self promotion?)

anyway - can someone who has this and has taken out the drive tell me if it has a seperate oem warranty? Even if you've not taken it out you can use Seagate's "seatools" on their website to check the internal hard disk's warranty life

last seagate external i had that died came up as a different drive on checking and didnt have the full warrenty
only 12 months and a message to contact the supplier

I added this last week and it got removed by a mod with no reason given.

What the hell are you lot playing at????

Any idea which drive is inside? I am looking for something reasonably cool (5600 rpm would do it), but with NCQ if possible.

Although I guess the choice of 1.5TB drives is rather limited. Seagate, and who else is doing them?

Is Ebuyer allowed back on now.... They had a cracking 1TB at £60

this is apparently a Seagate ST31500341AS 7200.11 but I want to find out if the internal drive has its own OEM 3 year warranty.

Seem to have forgiven ebuyer.

Nice drive, but it runs a bit too hot in my PC. I guess it can use some extra ventilation.

I find one of those HD fans you screw on works very well.

Let me know if interested, & I can sell you one in the ]FS/FT section (start a fresh 'wanted' thread there).

Full 3 year warranty on this. Both drive and case. As mentioned it (as all 1.5tb) runs warmer due to the higher spindle load. It's not a problem for externals but may be more of an issue used in desktop under certain circumstances like overclocked, multiple GPU or shuttle/passive case systems.

Ordered one of these a few days ago, arrived today. Will see how it performs (connecting to mac as a media storage device so will be used for streaming video (not hi-def)

Will post back with how it performs.

Ordered one of these a few days ago, arrived the other day. performs ok connecting to PC as a media storage device for Photo's, Artwork and music
Little slow but it was over 600gig to back up...........................................

sweet! just bought one of these and took out the 7200.11 Seagate drive inside to check the drive's warranty online.

In Warranty
Expiration 03-Apr-2014

It has 5 years on it! Not bad considering they've started issuing 3 year warranties on their new drives, and the external drive itself only has a 3 year warranty.
