Recently had to get rid of mine as started a family. These cars are excellent and loved every minute of owning one. Will definitely get another one when the kids grow up.

They hold the road and their value really well.

I`ll stick with my 2003 for now. Might get one of these in 10 years time....;o)

Absolutely wicked cars though!

Seems this price includes solid paint!, hubby has a shed full of that in half full tins - open to offers by the way.
Also seems to include aircon - on an open top model!?!*!

The kids have got into the marketing dept again.

gets rid of the condensation in the winter.

They hold their value very well but pricey to run and not all that fast but real fun in the bends.

Mine (308cc) is like an oven when I get into it in Summer. The air con is a must, even when I take the roof off.

^^ some people don't understand air conditioning...

I have to say that this price surprises me. I got an MX5 21 yrs ago when stationed in Cyprus. Cost CY£7,500 then (about £9,500). That was the 1.6 model. So for one to be this price so many years on is brilliant

Have some heat

hairdressers car

Air con is used when in traffic as you would just boil it is not meant to work when roof down but would still provide slightly colder air then normal heating controls.

So what do I think..does it come in Black?

My Lotus Elise does not have a/c. Wish it did - especially with the engine sat a foot or so behind me.

Oh, should have said, voted hot although, personally, the car is a little girly for my tastes.

Air con is not just for warm weather, it also heats the car and stops condensation. I am very thankful for it in Summer, roof down days especially!

I wondered how long it would be before someone said that.....
The MX5 is a really good car..... but it must get really tiring for MX5 owners having to hear the hairdressers car cliché all the time.

No...that's the audi TT

I think the mk4 is due out some time soon? May have an effect on the value I guess. I'm on my 3rd MX5 and haven't yet cut anyone's hair.

I know a couple of hairdressers and not one drives a convertible!

Definitely a hairdressers car

Or a Peugeot (_;)

I loved mine, those that think it's a hair dressers car should drive one, just saying.

Loved both of my MX5's. Drove my last one from Edinburgh to Newport with the roof down most of the way. Brilliant little cars that hold their value. Perhaps next year I might afford my third!

Are your a hairdresser though?

0-60 in 9.9 seconds. A bit slow. I'd rather buy a 2nd had faster car, but I'm a tight ****, the thought of loosing thousands as soon any new car is driven puts me off

As I've said in previous posts about this company. wouldn't deal with them if they were the last dealers on earth.
This coming from my personal experience with them and their unprofessional & rude staff/management. .

Seems like you have a touch of the kid about yourself.

Fantastic cars .... I've owned a 19 year old MK1 and loved every minute. Now have a MK3.5 2.0 Litre ......

If you think this car is about speed then you have got it badly wrong, it's living proof that speed is secondary to driving pleasure.

The hairdressing and gay jibes are rather old and tired and irrelevant ..... I've yet to have someone call me gay or a hairdresser - I am a 20 stone gorilla mind you

That said, I would spent the £14,500 on a 12 month old 2.0 Litre Roadster Coupe ..... you will lose less and have a better car IMO

Shouldn't that be "I am a 20 stone bear mind you" ?

Actually I've never understood the hairdresser and gay jibes myself. Surely the MX5 is just the British small 4 cylinder sports car concept taken and perfected by the Japanese? I don't recall MGBs or Spitfires being called gay hairdresser's cars.

Shame the only solid paint option seems to be red, I'm too lazy to polish cars, mind you never bought a brand new one. All other colours seem to have a £520 surcharge.

Fortunately the dealers don't design and make the cars - oh and they're not all bad anyway. Try directing your personal vendetta somewhere else.

Pretty much any convertible that is sub 60k has been deemed to be a hairdressers car unless they are considered more track cars e.g. Caterham

Personally I think MX-5s are a good laugh at real road speeds as it handles well (a bit like one of the original pre BMW mini's were great fun even at 30mph). If you floor it, it doesn't really do much but then anything that takes > 4 sec for 0-60 these day seems pretty average and unless you are going to do track days you will end up constantly putting your foot on the brake, squeezing the accelerator for a couple seconds then putting on the break. Unless you want to crash/ lose your license.

For less than 15k this is bargainous if you want a convertible that is comfortable for the daily drive (cf a Lotus Elise which costs more and at least used to be incredibly basic with a thin sheet of material to call a seat and no radio even). Or burn well over 100k and get a Ferrari so it can be considered a "man's car" (PS love Ferrari's for their driving ability but even they have cliches about their owners - old men, mid life crisis, etc) PPS before some smart Alec posts - I have driven most of the major brands of cars inc Lambo's, souped up BMWs/ Mercs, Porsches and even an Atom and an MX-5 is surprisingly not too different on public roads

Great fun car to drive - A great price too! Only thing I will say is the impending facelift model.. It does look rather nice -- That being said I see different pictures every month!
