Soundbites baby You are buying from 5000 miles away for a reason! It's cheaper!I am chilled like a popsicle mate! How dare they give it the large & make crass statements based on nothing? If they don't have the phone stop telling others what it can & cannot do!It is absolutely outrageous to give these statements without substance!I reported them!

Your comments on this thread are a bit odd, no one made any crass statements unless moderators have tidied this thread up.
You need to calm down a bit, this is a forum where people are trying to help each other -
you are trying to help all of us with a good deal - the other posters are trying to share their experiences which is also fair to do.
Let your fellow forum members decide on how useful all the information is!

*keep sharing when you find deals and don't get so excited when people comment. its all good

I would say, and it's just guessing, a lack of updates so what you see is what you get. At this price it's worth a leap of faith. I know people think that no NFC is a deal breaker but isn't with me. Being a Chinese phone it's likely to have a poor camera.
Also having looked at reviews this does support fast charging. Worth a punt, and if you buy do it through PayPal. Always.

Bought loads from them (inc 2 x £160 phones recently) all good. I've never paid import duties either (that's no promise you won't!)

Are gear best good to buy from?

I bought a Redmi 4 from Gearbest and it stopped working after less than 3 months. They offered me £20 to walk away or to pay them an additional£100 for a new phone. Third option was to post it to Spain for repair with 15-20 day delay. There are a complete nightmare they have had the phone for 7 weeks and all they ever say is wait another month. I honestly don't think then have a repair facility.
Did you pay via PayPal though?

Did you pay via PayPal though?

I did and am waiting for an adjudication. Once I started contacting them through Paypal the offer when up to £100 to walk away or £20 for a new phone. But it cost me £10 to post the phone to Spain and I really don't think they should do this. They are clearly in breach of their warranty.

Fair enough hughestg, I would hope the protection of PayPal would carry more weight. I hope you get your money back in full.

Returns are an issue as posting to China is expensive & might not even be allowed through customs.
You can use credit card or paypal for assistance if something goes wrong.
It's the risk you have to take unfortunately

I would not argue over £10, taking in the logistics & my own time.
Just not worth it.
Here's a review, seems pretty decent, though they're not that impressed with battery life trustedreviews.com/rev…pha

I don't think you can get bbc iPlayer or Netflix on this phone but a great price if this doesn't bother you .
Price is just amazing but i think buying from these sites and unknown brands the issues is always going to be quality, or lack there of, i can just imagine this beginning to fall apart after 1 year or so, with sensors stopping working etc.

But i got the admit the price is potentially worth the risk.

Why you say that? Why wouldn't you get them?
When you say "i don't think" does that mean you don't have this phone? As i suspect!

You're right, including banking apps & some others (from the TR review):

"...the custom nature of the phone’s software means Google won’t even allow it to run on the device. This also applies to some banking apps; these require strict security settings for obvious reasons.

There are other software incompatibilities on the Google Play Store, too. Some popular apps and games – such as Netflix, Assassin’s Creed Pirates and BBC iPlayer – simply can’t be installed on the phone. This could prove to be a deal-breaker for some users, as many of these applications are smartphone essentials."

Definitely a deal-breaker for me.

Don't use DHL. To greatly increase your chances of not paying import duty you need to use their standard shipping method. Makes delivery extremely slow, but worth it if you are counting the pennies. Should always factor in import as a worst case scenario when buying off the Chinese sites.

So did you send your phone to Spain, before contacting GearBest through PayPal?
I have had this phone since Christmas. It is an excellent phone, with great specs. It is not crashed on me once. I find that the battery life is very good, but if you get one, make sure you run the over the air updates, as it improves Bluetooth connectivity.

You can.

I have the phone and iPlayer works fine. Do not a NetFlix account so cannot test.

Yes because what they appeared to be offering on the repair was in accord with their warranty and if you look at the Paypal resolution system it doesn't say much about warranty. Anyway since Gearbest are now not following their own warranty procedure then I think that paypal should refund my money as the item was "not as described" (in respect of the warranty).

You highjack a post about a great cheap Chinese phone to tell us your angst about your issue with Gearbest.
Does Amazon have issues with unhappy customers? Yes! That belongs on their support forums! Not here!
Who knows if you are capable of diagnostics or reflashing a rom etc.
I have been buying from China for 15 years & they love commerce & customer service.

You need Argos not Gearbest!
