Yep & let the worst support team begin to wear you out. Crap.
Don't touch it with a barge pole.
Steer clear of Mcafee, there is a reason why they are selling them off cheap everywhere especially in pcworld as an addon sale when buying a computer. Once a good antivirus many many years ago, now very much a system hog. Still cannot quiet understand why they are still around

One of the possible reason for cheap initial price - I understand that one has to register with a credit / debit card and auto renewal is on by default - there could be a possibility that one forgets the auto renewal and McAfee renews at standard (inflated) price
Why bother paying when Sophos is free?

As with anything free there is always a disparity compared to purchasing a full version of a product where features will obviously be limited. Depending on a users browsing activity and that they stay well away of sites that are dodgy then the free version should be fine, but you should always do your homework when choosing any antivirus software as they are all not equal. 😏

Well they would say that wouldn't they.
Couldn't pay me to install it. You know the products crap when its own founder hates it.

An interesting article and the link to recent study from AV-Comparatives is also good reading. The problem is, I'm totally confused by the whole issue! What will protect me?
