McAfee says "Explore everything the new mobile world has to offer, and do it safely and confidently with industry-leading McAfee Mobile Security. When you install new apps, shop online, browse social networks, or use your device for banking and payments, McAfee Mobile Security is there to protect you.
And best of all: You can have all of this for FREE!"

I would recommend that you download this software on your iOS or Android devices, especially when it's FREE! I always use McAfee, as I think they are best antivirus program out there. But being able to get it free on your mobile device is an extra bonus!

How to dowload?

You can download McAfee Mobile Security for Android devices by searching for 'Free Antivirus & Security', 'McAfee Mobile Security', or by visiting play.google.com/sto…ite

You can download McAfee Mobile Security for iOS devices by searching for 'McAfee Security' or by visiting itunes.apple.com/gb/…t=8

There are also download links for McAfee Mobile Security for both iOS and Android devices on the McAfee Website:

iOS - home.mcafee.com/sto…ios
Android - home.mcafee.com/sto…ity

It's FREE for iOS too!

Is this the same as the McAfee App that Samsung gave me for my Note 2 last year ??

my bad, just checked and it was AVG that Samsung gave me - so my revised question is should I stick with the AVG app or remove and install this ?

Remove AVG, McAfee is a million times better. AVG is terrible, just a free antivirus service that does nothing. I would recommend installing McAfee, especially when it used to be a paid service for mobile devices

AVG is terrible, McAfee is the world's leading antivirus software. AVG is a free antivirus service that doesn't do anything, McAfee is a paid service. Their mobile security used to be a paid service, but they are doing it for free now. I would recommend installing McAfee, especially when it's free, what more can you get?!

It still is. This is a free version not the paid for version.

I'd recommend not installing McAfee, paid or free...

In your opinion. Mine differs.

Mcafee sucks..

interesting contrast of opinions between AVG and McAfee :-)

to muddy the waters even further the AVG product Samsung give free with the phone is AVG Antivirus Security Pro (which is £8.99 on the Google App Store). So how does this one stack up against McAfees new free offering ?

And take a look here:

And you will see it's not the paid for product just like Norton do. There are two versions, a free version and a full paid for version.

I agree NickNack :), and yes there is a free version and premium version. However, the free version without a doubt is much likely to be better than AVG. McAfee and Norton are the top two antivirus softwares out there. This is some of the awards that McAfee recieved for their mobile security:

AV Test: Perfect Score 2014
Info Security Global Excellence Award, 2014
PC Mag: EXCELLENT ★★★★ 2013
Consumer Reports Review Winner 2013

I would personally go for McAfee, they have never been a problem to me. McAfee for desktops/laptops is really good too!

That would be for the premium version not the free version.

Ice cold IMHO. Steer clear of both McAfee and Norton!
The only thing worse would be MSE...

I was going to mention norton earlier.....

Norton is the worst resource hogging antivirus.....and as it's so popular with people who don't know any better.....which one do you think the people who make these viruses are targeting to get around?

No Peegy, that's the free version... Take a look here: play.google.com/sto…ite and read the description.

Yeah Norton isn't that good if I'm honest, but I found that that it was one of the top antivirus software's out there. I'd personally go with McAfee, McAfee have always been first. Their desktop/laptop protection is really good

Peegy, its the free version. Take a look here and look at the description: play.google.com/sto…ite

Norton isnt one of the top antivirus programs !

Its the worst one out there !!!!!!!!

its only popular as its installed (trial version) on most new PCs/laptops , first thing I tell my customers to do is uninstall Norton !

I have to agree with you, Norton probably used to be the one of the top antivirus programs, but glad it isn't anymore - I always tell people regardless of the antivirus programs they have installed, I always tell them to get McAfee, definitely the best antivirus software out there :D, and the trial version is annoying, don't understand why they can't just have the free trial of McAfee installed on new PC's/laptops :P
