This looks a decent enough chainsaw for the occasional user cutting logs around the home or a bit of garden tidying.

Yes its no Stihl but then its half the price and most can pick it up locally as there seems to be plenty of stock at the moment.

Argos pretty good with returns as well which can be useful if you find the saw not suitable.

Would recommend the money you save that you go out and buy the correct PPE for use with this machine.

Great brand, good deal

Too small a blade to rampage with.

You need at least 50cm - ideally 60cm.

With 60 - 90cc engine.

Just the thing I need to wake up my noisy neighbours kids.

Blade plenty long enough and McCulloch have been making good chainsaws for years.

Great buy.

My wife bought me a Stihl chansaw for christmas 15 years ago - best present Ive ever had.

Please be careful, very careful with one of these things.

Once witnessed someone cut into his leg with one of these, was cutting branches and machine snagged and kicked back into his leg, straight through his jeans and cut below his knee down to the bone. Was not a nice sight. Can't stress enough to get proper ppe including chainsaw trousers no matter how long your using it for.

Listen to the man, he's talking sense. No way should you be allowed to use one of these without certifications

is this for fitting ppl in to the cardboard coffin ? oO

Bargain, now I just need a steel drum and some lime.....

Oregon bar and likely an Oregon chain, worth the money, petrol chainsaws are awesome !

Don't want to be too alarmist, but....

These things are in a different league to your standard garden power tools - they can hurt you in so many ways. Don't be fooled by the small bar - this could still do some serious damage.

As well as the trousers you'll also want steel toe capped boots, a proper helmet with visor and ear muffs, and gloves too. And wear them EVERY time you use it.

I'm going to get 3 so I can juggle them.......

This makes no sense..... save money on a Chainsaw and spend shed loads on PPE.....

REMEMBER .......the NHS is FREE.

I like the bit in the OP where he says great for cutting logs around the home! The amount of times I get home from a hard days work to notice that the oak tree in the living room needs to come down....this will come in so handy.

Or this one where a 13 yr old and a 9 yr old were using a chain saw. Parents must have wooden brains!

I have full protection chainsaw boots which are also completely waterproof, Stihl chainsaw trousers (class 1 type C with all round protection), first aid kit attached to harness, chainsaw gloves, helmet with visor and chipper noise protection, Stihl safety glasses etc etc etc. When I'm up a tree the only bit not protected is my forearm and upper arm. Top handle saws are the dangerous ones, not the heavy ground saws.

Oh and I do hold a valid CS30/31/32/33/34 etc
Sometimes accidents happen

I've got a licence for, using them, and if you don't wear the equipment when using them, then you are dumber than patrick. I see roofers, joiners, gardeners all using them without the equipment on a weekly basis. Usually end up reading about them in the paper. A guy in germany was using one up a tree, dropped it, and it cut his wife's head off.

still a good price though!

Woopsadaisy.

Out of curiosity, was she standing on an X at the time?

Live in a flat but this is a bargain not to be missed methinks. Bound to come in handy at some point or other.

I suppose Argos would be happy to sell one of these to a teenage chav after they've refused to sell him a dangerous penknife.

Would be great to see the salespersons face whilst buying one of these and then asking where you might purchase anti depressants.

I always thought two boats and a wood chipper.....sink the boat with the chipper on and......

Hopefully legislation will be in soon to ensure that you have to show at least the CS30/CS31 qualification in order to own one of these.

A 5 day course with a days test recently showed me that they are bloody leathal in the wrong hands.

Dont forget to budget for chainsaw marked, Boots (Steel toe capped are not good enough), Trousers, Gloves, Helemt, visor and ear defenders along with a whistle, first aid kit signs etc etc if you are going to actually use it.

apart from the above good deal my second hand version of this has been with its previous owner for a while a quick service and up she fired.

Gun

Don,t ever ever use one without chainsaw leggins, I use one proffesionally and my leggins have cuts alll over and I thank god for them each time. My trainer always said if a job is too small to put protective wear on, then use a bow saw. Wise words. If this message gets to one person and they make a mistake " as you will" and they are protected then i,m happy.
Footnote,a chainsaw blade will bury it,self so quickly you can't stop it, it's not like a knife.
Have a safe life. Mike Dawson

Might get one - should come in useful for the zombies

Had to quickly google it...couldn't find the German incident but found these two:

Woman killed by chainsaw after husband's slip 2004 UK

Man Accidentally Kills Wife With Chain Saw 2009 USA

Had always wanted a chainsaw...no particular reason for it, just one of those things but absolutely no way after reading those. Appreciate you need training and protective gear but still....

In the spirit of the site still hot for the price! (_;)
