Do they?
Oh nooooooo!
I hate that manky vaguely fish thing but voted hot for the price.
Vile things, if they tasted like the fish fingers they look like they'd sell bucket loads.
Which day is it the metro

I'm pretty sure McDonalds UK have a lot of certified vegetarian options. It is different from the US chain where even the fries aren't vegetarian.

If fish is a vegetarian thing then it is fried separately.
These vouchers are in every daily copy of Metro London....

Heat anyway for hot fish

Rubbish

No they don't. Firstly no "meat stuff" is fried in oil if you are referring to red meat and not poultry. Filet o' fish and fish fingers have their OWN oil vat which nothing else is fried in. Chicken is fried in a different oil vat too. When the oil is filtered regularly, the fries oil goes first, in which the veggie burgers are also fried, then the oil for the cheese dippers and apple pies then the oil for the filet o'fish, then chicken etc. The filter papers are then removed and disposed of and the filter boxes cleaned out. In most stores the fries actually have their own filter papers and boxes. The only reason that the cheese dippers and apple pies are not called "vegetarian" is that there is a miniscule change of cross contamination during filtering process, though this really shouldn't happen at all. But I supposed McDonalds are so used to people 1. talking total lies about their products as here, and 2. slagging off their products, etc, that they simply won't take even the smallest of chances.

If you eat fish but you don't eat meat or chicken, your fish will not be "tainted".

Yes, my son is a Manager and I just asked him exactly how it all works, as I knew R1992 was talking rubbish.

It's hardly "vaguely fish", it's wild caught white fish fillet, pollock I believe. So it is proper fish, unlike most fish fingers which are minced up stuff.

i bought loads of these vouchers from ebay for 1.99... well worth it
Filet o fish for my wife
Who'd be McDonalds? Doesn't matter how 'ethical' (maybe that's a bit strong but you know what I mean) they try to be there will always be a bunch of hating 'experts' ready to spill their trendy bile. It's OK food (choose the items which suit you) at a decent price and won't do you any harm if you don't live on it daily. Compare with Burger King (nearest competitor) and it comes out so much better, with exception of fries imho.

From McDonalds Website

http://www.mcdonalds.co.uk/ukhome/whatmakesmcdonalds/questions/food/halal/is-your-filet-of-fish-halal.html

Thank you for your question. We do not serve any halal accredited food in our UK restaurants.
We cook all of our fish products in a dedicated fish vat. However, we filter the oil in all our vats to ensure it is kept in good condition and during this filtration process there is a possibility that tiny traces of oil that has been used to cook other products such as our coated chicken may come into contact with the oil used to cook our fish. Beef and pork products are cooked on the grill rather than in the vats so are not affected by this process.

Real shame! with so many Muslims making up large parts of the population of many towns and cities in the UK, i would have thought McDonalds would have facilities to cook fish in totally SEPERATE oil, free of contamination.
Large companies such as McDonalds, Tesco and the like should really do more to provide Halal alternatives in towns/cities with large asian/Muslim communities.
These vouchers only work in McD's without a Drivethru
the thing about Mcfilet o fish: either soaking wet or bone dry with a strip of nasty 'cheese' apart from that at least the fries are nice

what are they scared of?
Wow did I touch a nerve????
The oil is contaminated so it's as good as frying it all together. Lol talking rubbish, well then it's so I can communicate with folk like yourself!
Anyway, mcdonalds haven't stepped foot in there for years. Had to boycott them for whatever reasons (may offend some..have noticed people are easily triggered off by comments lol :P) but anyway, plenty of other places to get cheap (and healthy ishhh) nice food as a treat.
Wee rant over
good find op, heat

No they shouldn't - as a business they can cook and sell whatever they like and if certain parts of the population don't want to buy then that's their lookout. I'm truly sick and tired of 90+% of the population being expected to pander to the narrow minded requirements of a tiny minority. Get over yourselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"pescatarians" (minus the apostrophe, 'wally'), is a fictitious term dreamt up by those who can't face the fact they still eat meat so need to invent a term that still makes them sound like they have the moral high ground. They're meat eaters who only eat fish. To help you out a bit : a fish...is not a vegetable. It's a living, breathing animal. It therefore comes under the category of "meat". And no amount of fictitious terminology (yes, I know it has a little google entry. So does "Michael Jackson still alive") is actually going to alter this fact.

erm no they dont. mcdonalds are a business and even though i would love to eat there fish filets im not bothered that i cant eat there. i dont expect them them to to fry the foods separate just for me. its up to them if they want to cater for a wider audience. tell me, how many Asian establishments do any kind of filtration to there oils and cater for other ethnic groups? some Muslim owned establishments don't even serve halal food so how can you expect McDonalds to?
