I presumed it will be national as part of their price crunch. Obviously not then.

Weight?

1.5kg. I knew it was the 'big' packet

on offer in my Morrisons

Is this much different to store own flour? Sainsburys bread flour makes better bread IMHO than Allinsons or Hovis, so why pay the extra.

Haven't tried store own flour my self, but this one does make truly awesome cakes :). Also at this price it might even be cheaper than store own flour!!

is this '00' grade?

My usual "strong flour" was 63p a bag last year. Currently it's closer to £1.50.

Is this a usual 'seasonal' price increase, or was there a bad harvest last year or something?!?

Excuses I've heard in the last couple of days include a poor Russian harvest and the Australian flooding.

I suspect that a large part of the increase is due to the fact that many financial speculators have shifted their focus to basic commodities as they are not making money from their traditional focuses. Hence the food price riots in other parts of the world, not forgetting the recent large inflationary increases that we've seen in our food prices.
