Not worth it, zero differences in cooling a room to regular cheap fans

Then you have missed the point. They are well liked/reviewed because of how quiet they are. They also have some cool features such as changing the fan speed based on the temperature - great for use at night as the temperature naturally drops. For my children who have additional needs, these are exactly what’s needed so they don’t need their ear defenders on.

To 'that guy' who's incessantly going on about how the homcom clone is as good at a third of the price
It's much louder, much smaller, and doesn't tilt automatically.

Some funny comments in here from people who don't even understand something as simple as a fan. They move air - that's it!
Differences between fans might include how much it costs, how well it's made, what it looks like, how much power it uses, etc etc.
The biggest selling point of this fan, in my opinion, is how much less noise it makes to move the same amount of air when compared to other fans. It really is very good for this indeed. We own two and think they're great. (edited)
    phermn's avatar
Agreed. I also own two. They shift a significant volume of air, circulate it well around the room and are very, very quiet.

This was a godsend last year in the heat, being able to run it through the night with minimal noise was fantastic

same here, went from unable to sleep at night to a good nights sleep

Good but not great deal for delivered. Can normally be had for £97.85 delivered with 3yr warranty from here, including 5% first order discount. airconcentre.co.uk/pro…056

I cant use the 5% first order discount, may be this is discounted product.

We like them. You can set it to oscillate up and down, left and right so it's not directed just in a narrow range.

They are super quiet which helps with night time use and the remote is cool too.

Much better than the fans we used to get for 20 quid or so.

50241961-xDXHg.jpgThese guys incessantly linking the homcom probably work for that shop, they're nothing alike, homcom is much louder, smaller, doesn't tilt automatically.

Keep your receipt if this is the version that gets power via Micro-USB. The connector is barely soldered on and WILL fail. The ones with a barrel connector seem to have fixed the issue.

You might be thinking of a different model? This is mains powered

I was set on buying Dyson fans as we have them in the office and they seemed decent, until I discovered these.
We've have this version in the bedroom and a floor standing one in the living room for 2 years now and they are simply amazing, better than the Dyson ones.

I don't get the hate. This is an awesome fan. It's quiet (well for me) and it cools my room. Much cheaper than the Dyson fans

Reminds me last year when i was looking for a air circulator fan, all out of stock then i got one and the day after the weather just went back to rain constantly lmao
    FCrux's avatar
What a shame lol! Just like this year we bought a parasol on offer and so far it’s been raining apart from today

Never did I think posting a deal for a fan would cause such a stir
  14. JasonWells's avatar
Nearly a hundred quid for a fan lol, wouldn't even pay that for Dyson
    sulz116's avatar
    Have you actually used it?
  15. WhitmoreReans's avatar
We’ve had one for a few years now and they are fantastic. Very quiet and effective
  16. FCrux's avatar
Even though this is highly rated, we bought this last year during peak summer and found that this wasn’t helping us much so returned it
    DealHugger's avatar
Assuming you were using it as a normal cooling fan rather than a so called air circulator fan? Yea it will be pretty useless.
  17. harmageddon's avatar
I paid this much last year, when I got it home to the misses, you ain't gonna believe what hit the fan!

We have the 1056p (Pedestal model) it's excellent. I know these are expensive in general, but it slings air around like no one's business.

I think they are hard for people to justify, especially given how much things cost at the moment. If you have the cash to spare on a Meaco, I think you'll really like it.

Obviously cheaper options will help you feel cool too, but probably won't be as kind on the electric bills, be as well built, have as many speed settings or be a quiet. The height adjustment on the pedestal is solid.

Homcom do a fan that looks to based on the Meaco, but it's much cheaper with a different motor and less speed settings. No idea on how quiet they are. They are cheaper at around the £40 mark when on offer. I've posted them before and will keep an eye out.

I actually own both the Meaco and the HomCom you've pictured. The Meaco is far better, much more powerful and able to move the air around, but crucially for me significantly quieter and we use it in the living room and can still hear the TV.

The homcom, for its size (much smaller) is actually pretty decent. It's still powerful, just much louder.

If someone couldn't afford the Meaco the Homcom is great for its price. (edited)

I have this fan on a pedestal. The functions are great and it’s the quietest fan I’ve ever known. Was a godsend last summer! (edited)

Managed to buy a catalogue return on eBay for £50 during the Winter. It was brand new when it arrived. I knew after 10 seconds of switching it on that it was a game changer. Bring on the Summer. Highly recommend!!

    Heat added.

But probably only useful one day a year in Gateshead.

these are the best fans ever!! (esp at night trying to sleep in last years heat) there again i only paid about this price in JL clearence last year
  24. Harry_Young's avatar
Excellent piece of kit and very quiet

Where would one get a non air circulator fan?
    AndyRoyd's avatar
Wouldn't be too concerned about that concept.
There will be lots of these returned due to being "not as described" as the marketing including phrases such as
Multi-direction air flow reliably cools your whole room
which is hilarious as all the device does is shuffle air around a room whilst actually adding heatload via the fan motor
i.e this device provides zero cooling to a room and actually heats to it.

As a man who can sleep through a thunder storm I find this deal COLD, which is ironic because ...
  27. Jamierez's avatar
I like these fans purely as they are so quiet and lower wattage than the equivalent AC fans. Costly? Yup, but I would rather have one of these than a standard fan that roars at full speed.
  28. dave_stuf67's avatar
These are a quality product compared to cheap fans or the much more expensive Dyson. We have 4 of them in each bedroom and have had them for 4 years and still work great. You can sleep with them on, no sound and a gentle breeze.

This is a powerful fan, and quiet even at higher speeds. And the vertical and horizontal oscillation, remote control, timer functions, temperature setting, I think this is the best you can get for this price. (edited)

Bought this last year - not sure on exact price but it was less than this but then everything was cheaper last year! It's a great fan, very quiet and all the modes seem to work well.

Meaco seem to be a decent supplier, I have their portable Aircon for when our new build gets way too warm for the Bulldog and that's been great as well

Anyone know how many years of warranty ? I can’t see that from the costco website.
For such an overpriced premium product, you have 6 years to present a premature-failure claim to the retailer that sold you the prematurely-busted rubbish - unless you live in a country that insists on shafting consumers by lessening the claim period to an equally rubbish 5 years, such as Scotland.

One huge advantage of this fan is it does not emit any heat from the motor hence there is no smell from the motor. The only fan I have come across which has this benefit. Buy it. (edited)
    pibpob's avatar
It will emit heat from the motor but may be more efficient than the shade pole motor in a cheap AC fan. All the USB fans you can get for not much money use a brushless DC motor which will be as efficient as this I expect.
  40. MIB15's avatar
Another point to make, this fan does not need to be "constructed" as some of the cheaper fans need to be, and also it fits back into the box it comes in, so can easily be stored over the winter months.....
