If you order on prime and it gives up the ghost - contact Amazon and get it exchanged or refunded.

I'm having one. Would be crazy not to and it has fairly good reviews too.

AliExpress have these for around £5.00 including p&p
Got one of these last month for about 4 quid, from Gamis was it? With a code? Awesome bit of kit, really useful

No home should be without... Heat OP!
With the £1 "kindle" credit for slow delivery it would be a crime not to... thanks OP

If you look at the screen on this and many similar models, you'll see they're identical. Probably an identikit product with the same motherboard, screen, sensor etc being churned out in different colours and exterior designs. The tolerances and functionality will be the same whichever you get, the only difference being the price.

I've also bought an almost identical one (for £15) last year and found it very useful to check the temperatures in our oven, which was faulty. That's the only purpose it served, but I couldn't have done it any other way. Bu then you could use it to check the temps of your hot chocolate, your swimming pool, your bath etc etc.

This is a stonking price, specially as this is backlit, appears to have all the relevant certifications and also comes with the laser guide so you know exactly where the measurement is taken from I(well if not exactly, at least around where!)

Heated.

.... Or the authenticity of the reviews is questionable because we never see fake reviews on 3rd party seller items do we...?

Works perfectly for me on my uuni pizza oven though thank you for your balanced summary and worst case scenario as I hadn't considered the possibility of killing someone with my careless use of the thermometer. I will consider it now, all done.

This only measures up to 380c, you should be aiming for high temps on that uuni
Edited by: "nbgrobbo" 6th Feb
Untested reviews are generally good however reviews regarding testing against accurate thermometers are not so encouraging. Specs don't appear to quote the +/- degrees C errors throughout its temp range.
I bought the yellow version of this ages ago. I use it most days as a laser pointer for the cat to chase and it works as well as ever.

Oops, so I see, mine is a different (though apparently identical) unit which is capable of reading much higher temps even though it is rated to 380C also. Certainly had 490C showing.

If your cooking chicken or reheating rice then the temp has to be right
Had one for ages, use when changing water on tropical fish tank, ensures water is correct temp.

Heat added.
I need one of these so i can check which is the hottest deals on hotukdeals.
This only measures surface temp so not suitable for cooking meat
I got one of these to check the turkey at Christmas. It worked a charm!

...only issue was, I kept checking the temperature of everything else in the house for about half an hour afterwards - my family now hate me.
Ordered...
Hot!

It is now £11.01 @ gamiss
Bought one yesterday, on the Ebay link, as only my son has prime and he is away, just turned up now, in an Amazon box, works a treat too.
got mine today great bit of kit
I bought one several years ago to see when my wife was ready however it kept reading below freezing, so I have every reason to believe it is very accurate
