Great price and much better value than the others considering this does come with Widevine Level 1 as per Freaktab (http://freaktab.com/forum/advertisers-and-vendor-support-area/geekbuying-com/676955-31-99-mecool-m8s-pro-w-android-7-1-2gb-16gb-kodi-17-3-amlogic-s905w-tv-box-wifi-lan-hdtv).

What's the best delivery option?
Sweet, I've got 6 quids worth of Gearbest points that I can use on this to bring the price down .
Cheers op
the w version of the chip is not highly regarded, think i read that it only output 720p. better to get and old s905 or m8s pro plus with a s905x which has been on offer at £~25 a few times

The W is 4k at 30fps, X is 4k at 60fps...

yup but the w version has been reported to only display 720p when used in kodi for playback. have a look through freaktab for people posting this. this is a cut down s905x chip, better to get the x version if possible
Got this from Geekbuying, the W variant, can't say anything about resolution but it works fine with no stutter. So if you're not a techno-snob this is great value.
I have it, works good and shows pictures on the telly
Very weirdly went through to check out in pay pal, did everything but place the order and then had a little read up on what has been mentioned about the chip. Decided to back out of PayPal for a minute or two whilst I weighed up as to whether I should purchase or not. In the meantime I get an order confirmation email from Gearbest thanking me for the purchase. My card has definitely not been billed and PayPal shows no such transaction. Very weird. Could I have some how snagged a freebie?

Will happily do 4K when running LibreElec, personally I wouldn't pay more than £20 for an S905W though as often that price and can get a S905X for £25.

Indeed, sadly the M8S Pro+ is £30 or so, a little compromise but the cheapest box to deal with Netflix DRM. Personally, I'm probably going to go for the M8S Pro L (S912, Widevine L1 and 3GB RAM).

But yes, the S905x is a more capable SOC I think.

I think the only Widevine Level 1 boxes are the M8S PRO+, M8S PRO L and then the usual Android TV boxes (Shield and MiBox). AFAIK, the other advantage to the M8S series is a fully working (minus Chromecast support due to licencing) Android TV ROM.

If Netflix isn't your area and you're more focused on less paid-for services i.e Plex or Kodi or similar then you could save a few by getting the £22 listing.
I do not know much about this box above so certainly not going to vote cold or anything, but, having been in the market at the weekend and looking at all the cheaper boxes i decided just to go all in and ordered a zidoo H6 pro which uses the all winner chipset

it had a new firmware last week to fix its kodi issues, has usb 3 and is generally a little nicer on the finishing touches

yes it is not the cheapest at 67 quid delivered, but for what these boxes can do and how long they last I personally though the extra was worth it.

Personally, I stay away from anything that uses either a Rockchip SOC or a All Winner SOC. They're generally less supported than AmLogic SOCs (It's one of the reasons the Pine64 and others failed due to their Rockchip SOC). I certainly wouldn't have spent £67 on that box though, that's for sure.

The advantage to this box is Netflix HD/4K and a flashable Android TV ROM. The M8S Pro L box @ £40 would have been better in my opinion.

I tend to recommend sticking away from anything other than AmLogic for Android boxes.
