Thanks Narcotix. Also this can be converted into effectively a WLAN NAS if you buy a around £10 usb wifi adaptor. Seems to have good user reviews in AV forums. Plays almost anything you throw at it!!

how good is this ?

Not much cop really and this isn't even that good a price. I'd guess you'd find it in an ebay shop for less now.

So I'm guessing you can store random files on this as well as using it as a media player with the right network connection, etc.? Sounds like exactly what I'm after if it does, what kind of transfer speeds can you expect?

I did a lot of search but couldn't find any cheaper with the same functions. Mind you even a 2TB drive is still not that cheap

Does it support custom font subs?

NAS + MKV player + 2tb = 117. I feel it is bargain. heat added

I've been contemplating this for a while now, seems you can buy the bare enclosure, i.e. with no HDD from they're ebay shop (which will give a little cashback from the usual sources too) for about £62 delivered and then just order a 2TB samsung drive from amazon for £60 or less if you can find it (ebuyer/scan).

If I could get some info on how well it can perform as a NAS drive I think I'd go for it. It should go well with my £30 open box asus homeplug kit I got from amazon last month.

I did look into it but some people seem to be having problem formatting the samsung drive for some reason. Also the difference wasnt great.
I am getting it today, so should update you in a few days.

No problem, just pointing out the options. I'll hold off ordering until your update. I expect an in-depth review with test results, benchmarks and some pie charts, I always like pie charts in my reports.
