Looks like a good deal, onlly downside 32 bit window, still a great price though, voted hot.

Looking at reviews it seems to come with a 64bit windows disc & hdmi.
The only negative i could see was that some people were having issues with the wifi connection?
Voted hot.

3.5kg for a 15" laptop is quite heavy (if the figure is correct). Specs are good for the price and it's new, not a refurb. Medion CS is another matter (see previous Medion threads)

I think there could be 2.02% TCB on it as well.

I think this brand got slated for build quality in a post last night.

it looks as though it may have e-sata and gigabit lan.

Hopefully people can post photos when they receive it.

I've seen many computers with 4GB+ RAM being sold with 32bit OSs. I guess it's because most people don't realise the difference so they don't bother changing the software.

I am after a cheap laptop for daughter which is better this? or the Toshiba at Asda...

Toshiba Satellite C660D-1C6

I'm assuming i3 processor is better, but Toshiba the better brand? Will there be much difference in performance?

Bother?
Do you mean the makers don't bother putting a dearer os on or the buyers don't bother buying a second os to put on?

Somebody at Sainsbury's has made quite a smart move to be offering so many reasonable value machines.

The Tosh has a AMD E-300 processor returns a below average
cpu benchmark score of 632

The Medion i3-330m returns
cpu benchmark score of 1965

Disregarding the graphics performance, most budget notebooks on sale lately seem to have scores around the 1500 mark. eg. Intel P6100/6200, T4400/4500 etc.

All of which means precisely nothing in real world usage, of course

A faster CPU shows no advantages over a slower one in "real world" use? I wonder why we aren't using 386's still...

have you tried?

Great deal

Interestingly on daughter's wishlist is "looks nice, runs windows 7, has a good camera and isn't too heavy" - on those points the Tosh probably wins, but performance wise seems like a no-brainer.

Have ordered both to take a look at them 'in the flesh' and try and decide which is better for her. Hoping the medion isn't really 3.5kgs! Thats way too heavy.

Ideally she'd want a 13-14" notebook, but they seem to be way more expensive.

Avoid! the manufacturers customer service is terrible and the quality of their products are poor. I am of course speaking from experience. Won't ever buy from Medion again.

If you ever need aftersales Medion is THE worst company EVER. My mint machine got smashed on its way back from Germany (no polystyrene loose in big box) They sent an inferior reconditioned scratched model as a replacement. Had problems with multi touchpad immediately, sent back they returned it not repaired as it was a 'driver issue', despite having a full format and restore. After writing to Sainsburys CEO got a refund, and kept the scratched one FOC. No laptop for 6 weeks,

my experience with the brand is not positive and would agree with comments about poor build quality. I bought a dektop but returned it a week later as would not even turn on

Both versions 32bit and 64 bit are on the included recovery disc.

i ordered one for my mother,it arrived yesterday, and i must admit i,m pretty impressed with it for the money and it has 2 year warranty !!

Why'd you keep it for a week if it didn't turn on? oO

Bought this for my grandkids to play on when they visit.Have to say it has been excellent so far.Was surprised to find COD Modern Warfare 3 actually played on it .A little slow at present but I plan to upgrade the memory to 6 or 8 gb which should be fine. The graghics I found are surprisingly good, 5 stars so far here.
