just found some interesting thought on the aldi medion forum. apparently this is the same as the november pc except the processor is not as good. and no tv tuner.

Incredible Software package ?

Not trying to be negative here, but this software package is hardly anything to write home about.

Windows - well it comes on most PC s anyway
Works - Microsoft give this away with almost every PC
Office Trial - This is only a 60 day trial then it stops working.
Nero Essentials - Every PC with a CD/DVD burner comes either Nero or similar product.
Corel Draw / Mediaone - dont know much about this
Symantec - Most PCs come with a recovery package nowadays

So while an adequate software selection it is hardly an "incredible software package"

I nearly jumped the the last offer but reviews suggested that it was a reasonable deal but not great. Luckily the Tesco £350 deal turned up a few weeks after so I wasn't bothered but this still seems like a decent, but not unmissable, deal considering most wont use the full power on offer and you dont get the monitor?!?

I have this one : Medion Akoya P36888 2.4Ghz/3Gb/1TB Blu-Ray TV (not from Aldi & cost me £399 - that was from Tesco's 31st Jan this year)

I previously had the Medion 8083 which i bought from Aldi in 2004 - mother board finally died Feb this year.

They are great computers, i love mine.

Wouldn't buy Medion or buy electronics from ALDI !!

Check this spec out, nearly the same and including a 20inch monitor from DELL Business site £414 + vat and del

Why do people think ALDI is cheap for food anyway if you buy the BASIC ranges from leading supermarkets it loads cheaper than ALDI.

Now Netto sell branded goods cheaper.(most of the time)

Care to explain why?

I've had my Medion Computer for over 3 years, never any problems.

I am frankly baffled by some of the negative comments regarding this pc, i just bought one this morning, a very fast little rig, the 9600 gt gpu is a very decent card. I switched it on, and it installed vista in about 6 minutes, over the moon with it, what the heck to people expect for under £500, amazing value, could anyone build one with similar spec for the money, i seriously doubt it. highly reccomend it if you can find any left.

I've had my Medion PC since 2003 but need to replace it since it's in it's final death throws (almost 24/7 use for six years). May look into this as I found the Medion a really good little workhorse, maybe not the fastest but a stable little system.

Other than Dell (don't want pages of customizations) what are the other good pre-built systems for under £500
