from the text aluminium chassis. 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8265U Quad-Core processor, 15.6" Full HD IPS display
Mx150 is disproportionately expensive for what it delivers and is a real shame because provides A very energy efficient method of adding light gaming capability to a laptop
Quite tempted to get this, is there anything out there better for the price even for light gaming. Seems to tick a lot of boxes.
Im surprised how its light and thing with a hybrid storage got a real good spec tho
I was about to buy this today currys.co.uk/gbu…tml
Should I be considering this Medion instead??

Oh, would not recommend, the screen is a TN on the Lenovo S340. Go to a store and see it first if you can.

Hmm so seems like this Medion is better on almost every metric? I'm bad at rating processors but seems like this Intel Core i5 (8th Gen) 8265U is at least comparable to the Ryzen 5 3500U, if not better on some aspects?

Only thing I'm wondering now is about the price reduction? I've heard good reviews about Lenovo IdeaPads but tbh know absolutely nothing about Medions.

i5 is faster
Medion has IPS screen, larger storage and 3 years warrranty.
But it has shorter battery life.
forgot to say Lenovo own medion

Yeah, just looked that up. Medion reviews seem pretty good and for the spec I've found nothing anywhere near as good for <£500. Just ordered one!

Cisco060606 summary has my vote too.
I think you'll need that 1TB HDD for gaming storage & it fits well with the high performance 128gb SSD
+ the bigger, far better screen.
Sorry to hi jack the thread but tou guys sound like you know what you're talking about...

I'm looking for a windows laptop for DJing. I'm using native instruments traktor.

I was looking for something with quad core, as much ram as possible, ssd and 15 inch screen for as cheap as possible.

The laptop won't be going anywhere so it doesnt really matter about the weight or design as long as its reliable.

This is the closest laptop ive found. Is it a good deal?

Medion is German, owned by Lenovo.
Aldi used to sell a lot of Medion products.
Buy this now or wait until Black Friday?????
Bit the bullet and got it. Don't forget to add on about a fiver for delivery.

Unless I'm reading that incorrectly that 77% score, which relates to a below average rating, is based on one review, and at a price of 700 euros.

I think you need to carefully check those "Tech Specs" in that Which review.
I suspect it had no 128GB SSD, only the 5400 rpm HDD
(Like the Argos P6645 if you google "MEDION AKOYA P6645")
This, we all should know is like having a FI Ferrari engine in a Morris Minor Estate.
As to the "inside Laptop size" speakers... at £500 they're not going to be subwoofer BOSE are they?

The 77% rating doesn`t get any better with a price reduction from an inflated RRP.
700€ = £604 @ 19/3/19

The review is from March this year, by now you would expect a cut just to sell it.

The review was based on the actual selling price of 700 euros in Aldi, rather than any inflated RRP - that's the actual cost when it was reviewed. I'm sure Aldi probably claimed a rrp above that, but that's what it sold for and the review is based on it being a £600 laptop, and that 77% score reflects the price. I can't agree with your comment as If it was reviewed at £500 that score would have been higher.

The German model in the 77% review also has different specs - a smaller HDD (512gb not 1tb) as I'm sure you've noticed, so it's not even a direct like for like comparison with this one.

I'm more worried about the cheap feel comments. (I know it's a cheap laptop, but I wouldn't want it to feel cheap). Sound quality is also an issue to me.

However, I like which, but some of their reviews come across as snobbish.

It's worth pointing out that the keyboard gets a bit of stick on both Argos and Very - it's not backlit and white ink on silver keys isn't a great combo for use in the dark. I've not gone for this myself for that reason, even though I was pretty tempted.
A three year warranty is not to be sneezed at.

Although I`ll be waiting for the run-up to BF and Christmas to see what`s on offer.

Your link has been on here before for the same price at Currys on 30th Sept but was £449 from AO at the same time.

Here is a better deal than both the above from BOX: @ £499

Will give you a first impressions having just acquired this laptop. It's very compact and exceptionally light. Keyboard isn't the best but it's not too bad either. System storage is really good, decent boot up times.

Now the not so great. Whilst it's true the laptop is very portable, the sound from the speakers is quite thin sounding (tinnie sounding), not very good at all. With headphones in, much better. Hoping the speakers will break-in. A bit weird having speakers under the laptop but heyho.

What’s the maximum RAM you can get in there, given it comes with 8 as standard?
I bought for my son. Not impressed with the screen. Some white edge bleeding.

Edit
Screen was ok after if settled.. maybe it was due position laptop was transported/ stored prior yo collection.
