not bad spec but poor quality

I was in Aldi earlier this evening, and saw some new printed stuff piled up on the side but didn't take one - I presume it must be in one of those flyers?

It's a while since Aldi had anything half decent in terms of PC offfers :-)

Yeah the flyer would of been this weeks specials, ski wear tmoz, then the pc thursday!!

++++Don't Forget 3 Years Warranty++++

Can anyone find a deal that beats or matches this now?? Is this Medion 64bit windows 7 and DDR 3 you think?

The internal components are no less than what would be found in a Dell/Asus/HP etc. Nothing wrong with an Intel C2Quad for instance...

Pretty decent for low end gaming, but don't expect it to go any further than that if you're a gamer.

Absolute rubbish, I have 2 Medion Computers, one is over 7 years old, the other is over 3 years old, never a spot of trouble from either, both still working 100%.

I still have a p3 medion pc must be around 10 years old, never had an issue with it in all the years I used it.

At this price... this is gonna get HOT! A bargin! My bro has been after a PC and this is a must have!

1TB HDD? That's a 1000GB hard drive, yes? For £350 with a 3yr warranty included? How much do Dell charge for an extended 3yr warranty? Many of Aldi's recent laptops have featured 16" screens, how big is the screen on this?

What's the catch? Other than this machine doesn't say Samsung, Sony or Toshiba on it, I can't see a catch.

I've been searching for a new laptop, well two actually; one for my Dad and one for my Sister. I require something that will handle the semi-heavy internet use; eBay, Facebook, etc, as well as movies & music, not so much games but I'd like to think any potential machine I buy will still be going strong in 5-6 years time. These look like something of a steal!

Who here has first-hand experience with Medion Laptops? Have you had any problems and if so, what was the Aldi warranty service like? And to you folks (Inactive & Bellamy) who say your Medion machines are still going strong, can I ask what sort of use/abuse have they received?

I'll call in my local store and pick up a leaflet tomorrow.

It's not a notebook. It's a PC. The gericom notebook I had from Aldi was garbage. The backlight went twice. Only once in warranty the paltry one year warranty for the component.

What are the chances of actually getting one of these machines? Will it be limited to say 5 per store? Anyone work for Aldi who knows? Is it a case of queing up for one when store opens or will staff have already bagged them? Just weighing up if its worth booking the day off work to try and get one! Cheers

Think it looks pretty funky! Cheers for uploading image.

Probably looks better in the flesh so to speak, i prefer the hidden bays like the previous Aldi PC's, having the DVD drive showing looks a bt cheap IMO

good price for the spec, not worth my time building a basic machine if i can get this for 350 with 3 years warranty. heat and rep added. good find op.

Is Thursday the very earliest they would sell you one of these machines? Seen on previous Aldi threads that people have sometimes got them earlier by speaking to Manager? Anyone any info on this or is a case of waiting till Thur. I could do with it now!

got a PC from them nearly 3 years ago, had to have it picked up when it was 11 months old to be repaired, PSU and motherboard had to be replaced, took 3 weeks for them to sort it, waited a whole week and no one turned up to collect and i rang addi and they never put it on there system to be picked up,
the PC has been back 4 times since, psu and motherboard replace, it just conks out and wouldnt power on, and the amount of time waiting on the phone for the right section up to a hour, yes a hour, and you have to stay on or it will never get repaired.
third time waited a week and the collection guy came and they gave him the wrong box to put it in , had sent a laptop case instead. so had to wait another week for them to send the right size box.
warranty ends in a month so reckon it will be on its way out again.
not saying all PC's are no good, but mine was crap.
have bought a laptop from them over 3 years running no problems :-)

The "the DVD drive showing" is at the top

The slots showing below are 2 hot-swap SATA HDD bays for extra / removable hard drives

Card reader is limited but covers the usual SD & MMC

I notice that the Firewire port is blanked off or I would have gone for this

I would have thought it has firewire on the back ?

Handsome_Tom;7407535

What's the catch?

To actually read the article...

I have a Dell, and I got a Median from Aldi last year as it was bargain. Got rid of it a few weeks after after it was too noisy. The dell is totally silent, this sounded like a jet at times.

But I keep my PC on in the room and use as HTPC so its important its silent, too others it may not bother them.

Yeah! My two Medion PC have rubbish Panasonic optical drives and Samsung HDD - never heard of these third world component manufacturers

I don't bother shopping about for PC anymore, every 3 years I pick up a new Medion base unit from Aldi's. We've used the warranty thing only once in 6 years for a duff DVD (Panasonic) burner that they insisted in replacing at home - I would have been happy to do it myself but they sent some-one round.

Cannot fault the hardware, software or support... and that's from us now on our third Medion from Aldi.

deanos;7408421

Spec reads - Connections :
Front : 2 x USB 2.0, 1 x microphone, 1 x headphone, 4 in 1 memory card reader
Rear : 4 x USB 2.0, 1 x LAN (RJ45), 1 x front line out, subwoofer / centre out, 1 x rear line out, 1 x surround out, 1 x line in, 1 x microphone

do ya think its gonna be noisy?

Isn't this Acer a better option overall?

You could always buy a PCI firewire card for about £10 delivered and fit it yourself, quite easy to do and this PC should have some free PCI slots

Dont forget this is just the base unit, so no screen. I've had a medion pc from aldi for 18 months now and no problems.

Dont think it is, its around the same price but has onboard graphics, smaller hard drive, 1 year warranty, + £12 for the W7 upgrade

But then again the Acer is dead quiet ive seen the same one in a shop and you cant hear it at all

The previous Medions always used to say "whisper quiet" on the spec, this one dosent which could be a concern

Yeah, it’s the potential noise of this Medion that’s worrying me. I suspect we won't know until someone fires this model up!?
