Hi, this will easily run Sims 4 and is over the required specs. However I guess this laptop will future proof whatever games she wants to play

Rather have the Asus with the 2GB GTX1050 and the quad core 7300HQ for the same price as this at saveonlaptops. Less graphics memory which won't matter as much such in a middling GPU but a much faster quad core CPU which definitely will on many games.

Probably better built as well, considering the Medions I have owed and used had terrible build quality

Does this have a slot for an extra hard drive or SSD? Cheers

Can anyone tell me if the 1050 is VR compatible? Mrs has picked me up an Oculus Rift in the Black Friday sales, but my vastly outdated 780M won't cut it.

Price for this spec is pretty good. Not sure about the built quality though.

What CPU have you got in that laptop? I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's quicker than the 7200u in this.
In terms of GPU power, unless you go for a model with a 1050 Ti or 1060 it's unlikely to be worth the upgrade.

The GTX 1060 3Gb tends to be the minimum standard for VR fro what I've read, but you may be able to just about get away with a 1050ti. The 1050, however? I'd doubt it

Realistically unless you have a GTX1060 as a minimum then the Rift isn't worth it

What's there SR in overwatch xD

I would hold out for a Intel 8th gen mobile cpu like the Core i5 8250U paired with an MX 150. Better yet a AMD Ryzen 5 2500U or 2700U.

The I5 7300HQ has a passmark in spitting distance of the 8250u score and doesn't have the rumour of thermal throttling under persistent heavy loads.

I've not yet seen a decent gaming laptop with an 8th Gen chip in it (and yes zealots an MX150 IS for gaming!)

I'm guessing you missed out on the £629 Asus last week then?
Quad core (this is dual) i5, SSD + 1tb

i5 8250U paired with a MX150 is the next gen equivalent of an i5 7300HQ paired with a basic mobile Nvidia 1050 2gb.

I was interested in the Xiaomi Air Pro 15 with i5 8250U and MX150 on offer at lightinthebox but it ships from mainland China. There was an excellent price (£510~) after Cyber Monday web promo discount combined with Tcb. Though I had to question the value of such a purchase after considering VAT and customs charges.

Yeah I'm going to be upgrading soon, and when I do it'll be a minimum of a 1070. Thanks for the help.

Nice one, I'll go hunting for a 1060 or higher.

In a laptop stuff like that gets pricy fast. If it has to be a laptop then you'll pay for it but a desktop machine will offer more performance for less money.

The Oculus is one of those technologies where the standards move so fast you need as much performance as possible.

Not really, big difference between the 1050 and the MX150
