Good clearance discount on this medion. It's been cheaper over black friday but this is the best price currently.

No need for an i7 unless you do game design etc, i5 is all you need for gaming.
There have been several HUKD posts on this laptop (including one from me). As I recall, the people that have bought the X7847 have been pleased with their purchase. There was one person who bought it who thought it was 'a bit big!' but that's often the case with 17" laptops. I also recall that whilst the screen isn't 'true' IPS, the people who own one saying it's a very good screen (unlike the Dell Inspiron laptops where the base IPS screen sounds not so great).

PS - this laptop still sells for £949 on Medion's own site...

Not necessarily steep for an i5 with a 1060 though. They're usually around the £900-£1000 mark

I think Medion suffers from a lack.of brand recognition. They're usually quite well priced but just don't seem to sell. This was £799 on Black Friday at Save On Laptops and never seemed to go down in stock. They pulled this model while still having "more than 20 in stock" according to the website. Any other of the known brands would have sold out a few times over at that price.

I think the lack of a UK based service center doesn't help either, with repairs taking multiple weeks.

Indeed, and the i7 would get hotter when gaming which is not what you want in a laptop where cooling is tricky.

I've bought three Medion laptops in the past. TBH, I think they're great!

Not judging them on their quality tbh - they're rebranded Clevo's which are generally well designed & engineered.

I just think they suffer unduely because of the Medion name.

Given the choice most people would rather go for a more established or recognised brand regardless of quality. It's a shame.
Take this deal and the HP Omen I posted a few days ago. Both with near identicle specs - both 1060 6gb btw - that one is considered hot at +555 yet this one will probably end up with a negative score.

They're both the same price

I have this laptop and it is well worth this price, that said i do with i had paid the extra for an i7 7700hq as with my oculus i do feel ever so slightly held back and the cpu is stuck at 100% during VR, that said it does work well enough to give me nausea free gameplay
