Strange one, this. This has been £79.99 at Currys for quite a while. If you can get over the snobbery about the Medion name, this is an amazing price for a satnav which uses the far superior new Sirf chipset. However, there's a massive ad in today's Sunday Express stating this is now reduced to £59.97, even though their website still says £79.99! You can always ring them to reserve one on their hotline 08445-616263 and tell them you want one at the advertised price or, if you want to get the quidco, reserve it online and take the ad into the branch when you collect. They simply HAVE to sell you this at their advertised price or the ASA would be happy to oblige.

A great price for an excellent, if basic, satnav. Spec here:

There is stock if you look for it and prepared to travel outside your shell!

See post 1...

None in Birmingham as USUAL

None at all in any of the North East shops too . Dont you just hate this ?

I would need a Sat nav just to find those places in London :giggle:

None in

Wigan
St Helens
Warrington

None within ten miles of me!

None within 30 miles of Hereford either... but there again, not much is!!

Currys seem to be getting as bad as Argos in offering really good deals which no one can actually buy.

SIRUSKEY

None within ten miles of me!

10 miles !

You have to think further.

Nearest towns here with shops are 25 miles away. :whistling:

It looks like end of line clear out to me (hence the .97p price) - so short stock is to be expected - but as Bellboys points out, there is stock in certain stores

comes up as £79.98 for me!!!
was the OP's £59.97 a Curry's mis-price? good luck if you found one

Original Poster

Nope, this is the price in a huge ad in the Sunday Express (and probably other today) so this is the price you will pay in store (take the ad with you).

Once you get to the basket it gives the correct price, and there are tonnes in my area! Thanks.

This is the correct price - I phoned to reserve one this morning and they confirmed it.

nice shout. reserved mine and still more available in watford if your quick.

Just rang Currys and there say out of stock up and down the country :-( :x

Get on the web and reserve one would be my advice. Currys CS often talk out of their derrieres...

Edit: And once you have managed to reserve one, get in there quick before some member of staff notices how cheap it is, lol.

great find. (no stock in bradford or w.yorks), i bought the shiiite evesham one the other day and i got charged for 2 ( and receive 2 useless shells), i hav had a aytobe ( windows ce 4.2 - similiar to route66 and has gps problems but quite good. most sat navs depend on the technical spec and if this as the post sayss has sirfchip iii -the manufacturer just put their name on like LG/Samsung LCD TV Sets. the actual picture of map looks quite neat. Bargain!!

Yes, it definitely utilises the SirF3 chip!

Matters not, it is nationally advertised at £59.97 and that's the price you will pay.

thanks just ordered 2 to pick up tomorrow lots of stock in Newmarket..

what is the SirF3 chip?

and how good is this compare to the tom tom XL apart from the price

So do I need to buy TomTom software for this as well?

Banned

So can I use this instead of my map in the car and the sirf chip where do I put it exactly in my phone? how exactly does it work please?

Not unless you really want to (I've been told you can put TomTom on this) - this has its own mapping software included (from Naviteq). It's completely ready to go straight out of the box...

Oh, I thought that there was something about the fact that its a GPS receiver, not Sat Nav as most things call it but it looks good (and cheap) if it works straight out of the box!!

No idea, I'm afraid. Some people swear by TomTom but I sometimes wonder if some of it is due to it being the market leader. Price-wise, you could buy 2 of these for less than the price of even the most basic TomTom machine.

managed to get one reserved - 50 miles away!!! still, its in kendal so we'll make a day of it in the lakes. mmmmm - that'll increase the cost to me for £60 to around £120!!! something wrong there!!
