Looks like a good deal if not snobbish about the brand. Would be interested to see comments from those who are more in the know on the spec etc...

Aldi have a competition on at the moment for twitter users to win a Medion smartphone if anybody is interested.

The 1 GB RAM is the downside.

Its predecessor was a decent little phone - I have it as a back up in case my HTC dies unexpectedly. If this is anything like that, worth the punt - but expect it to be sold out inside an hour or so.

854 x480 display? Even 40 pounds expensive for this phone

looks like out of date tech now unfortunately - it will really struggle to use the latest apps.. I'd personally spend £40 more and buy something for around the £100 mark.

4G /3g?

Aldi normally sells good stuff but i was a little disappointed in Aldi when i read the spec for the price. You can get quite good branded phones with this or better spec for the same or slightly more.

the only experience I've had with Medion is through my mate, who had a laptop by them. He said it was the biggest pile of **** he's ever used...

Gollywood

The 1 GB RAM is the downside.

And the 5mp camera, but the 1gb is the sinker
May get it to use at work. I have left my Sony Z2 at work and it fortunately was handed in.....oOX)

How the hell is this getting hot, its very bad value for money when comparing with moto g

that battery is tiny

Yo can get first gen moto g for the price and get better specs (that God awful mediatek chip....)

I was just about to write the same thing.

Is this not just a rebranded THL device?

For a large proportion of Aldi customers who just want a phone it will be perfect. People expecting up to the minute this, that and the other will be unimpressed. I just tried their water proof camera ....not underwater ... Just awful. But they sell out.

Saw this last night in their brochure, terrible deal - no idea how it is hot. As mentioned you get a much superior Moto G for similar price!

front facing camera is only 0.3MP!

Yes. A disappointment as Medion normally have good specs. This is a model from 2 years ago

with that much RAM you wont use any longer than 3 months

Not surprising at all, although if it was covered in chocolate or contained fizzy sh1t it would get much more heat

A Sony Experia for £75 would be a good alternative imo;) This phone is far better value than the rip off iPhone.

This isn't that good a deal.

The problem with Aldi is the food is good but anything else is overpriced poor quality.Cold.

Cold not a Skoda G

Pants. Good phone for folk who only phone. Apps will not be great. Images awful.

why is this getting heat , cold

Doesn't seem that great a deal for the phone, as others have said better (moto g) available for similar prices.

People please be careful of their 3 year warranty as when I tried to take something back after a couple of months they said they only cover it for the first month & the rest is with the makers not them. I then asked to see the manager & explained that the retailer is liable for the first year under consumer law after a bit more discussion I got full refund but would not trust them again

Lots of unfounded comments, however, to keep it short and on point, here is a better alternative for just £10 more:

Of course, Vodafone is not a good retailer in case things go wrong, but still a decent alternative.

EDIT: Keep in mind the Aldi deal is a Dual-SIM. Not too bad actually

First gen Moto for £69.99 ? And is it Dual SIM ? hmmm...

I think with some very keen prices for other, better handsets (although they fluctuate and may not be around right now), this does not represent that good value. Almost similar specs to ZTE L2 which has been around this price, although in its favour is that it is unlocked and dual SIM.

It's hard to judge it when there's no firm spec given for the phone.

However, it'll likely use something like a MT6582 CPU and mali400 mp2 GPU. With so few pixels, it'll get a respectable rate on most modern games. It scores around 18,000 on Antutu, which is broadly equivalent for a 1st gen Nexus 7.

I have a DG310, which runs Asphalt 8 and things like that at a very decent rate, so this is just fine.

However, the DG310 and others in the same class of phone can be had for around £50 these days, but with this phone you have more protection in the case where things break.

I have a pc, two years old now. was great spec for the high street and prices. Still going strong, no issues what so ever. Great purchase

I'm a China phones convert. :-)
I think I would pay a little bit extra for the more RAM & 1080p screen.

I had computer from medion it was the worse thing I ever bought rethink about the name

I had the predecessor P4502, sat down in the car with the phone in my pocket and the phone flexed sufficiently to crack the screen. I've seen iphones which continue to function with cracks all over the screen. This wouldn't and Medion won't hear of repairing the item in warranty. Pants company & even worse phones. Steer well clear!
