Great price for spec but that must be a reason...

why so cheap?

Medion are renowned for bringing out some great budget gear. They had a European sat nav last year for under £50. The company is German and they sell mid range budget items made directly for them in cheap Chinese factories. I have bought several items from Medion over the years and had no complaints about what I bought and will probably buy this

P.s do not expect this to be as good as a £1000 Nikon or similar, but I expect this will compete nicely with many cameras in the £300 range. It will make a nice addition for a budding photographer and casual user, but if you already have a decent digital camera, do not expect this to be a huge upgrade. Heat for such a great price for the spec

Saying it will compete with £300 cameras is a bit of a stretch, this is still just a generic bridge camera with a point-and-shoot sensor and a large lens. That's not to say it's a bad camera, it's a very nice deal for the price and product category and I've voted hot, but £300 is well into the range of entry level DSLRs and other large sensor systems which from an IQ perspective will blow this out of the water.

Agree with you there, but

£300 is well into the range of entry level DSLRs

don't agree with this. £300 won't buy you a DSLR with the equivalent of a 35x optical zoom -- it's (damn) silly money for a lens with that magnification.

Cost just £82.51 with £3.44 (4%) off via Quidco or Topcahback.

Unfortunately a good spec means very little and I couldn't find any online reviews or example photos.

The 20mp sensor is a virtual guarantee of poor quality photos that will be acceptable only if the processor is very good.

I assumed they were referring to image quality rather than zoom range, given that this sort of zoom capability for a ~£100 bridge camera is pretty commonplace and he said it would "compete with" £300 cameras rather than something like "have a similar zoom range".
