Had my eye on this little laptop for a while. Great specs for this type of machine. Nippy Pentium N3540, 4gb RAM, full IPS touchscreen and convertible into tablet form. This version is currently reduced from £399 to £319 on the Medion website so £245.95 for a lugabout with these specs is a great deal. 3 available on Amazon and only 2 left on ebay. There's a similar version with 2gb Ram and a 32gb flash drive for £169 which may be an even better deal for some!

Is that a proper SSD drive or eMMC?

(Reason I ask - our Medion S6415T likely will not be upgradeable to an SSD drive due to some BIOS issue! So I'm relying on you to once again uncover a Medion gem that fits the bill !)

Oh, that's a bummer! And you were so pleased with it too. I've got to pick up my sproggs from school but I'll try and find out when I get back.

Sadly, it's an emmc, so probably not what you're after. Have you tried contacting Medion about the bios issue, or is that a silly question?

Yes, I've got an eMMC tablet at the moment. Though it performs nicely, it isn't a huge amount quicker than a standard hard drive - and not nearly as quick as a full size SSD.

I have been in touch with Medion. They weren't aware of this particular issue - however, they have pledged to get some kind of resolution within 48 hours.

Having said that, http://www.hotukdeals.com/tag/ask/why-locate-new-ssd-drive-windows-8-1-laptop-2195843?p=24999165 alerted me to the fact that the Lenovo Flex has problems recognising Crucial SSD's (and Intel ones) - and the only ones that work are Samsung. Since this Medion is to all intents and purposes a Lenovo Flex 2, I have just placed an order for a Samsung SSD :). I really hope it works.

Cool. At least there's some hope for a solution to the problem. It'll also be interesting to see if Medion keep their promise.

Does anybody know if this is fanless or not? I can't seem to find a definitive answer

I don't think this will be fanless as it is a Pentium processor. May be wrong on that though. What concerns me is the power consumption from the CPU for the battery installed. Looks like it may only get a couple of hours or so out of it.

Looking at the images from the hardware. Info link above it doesn't look like it has a fan? With the extra battery in the base it should be too bad. I suppose I'll find out when it arrives.

"Long battery life up to 10 hours1 (Tablet + unit base unit)"

So perhaps 4-5 hours on the tablet alone...
