know exactly how you feel.

median = junk

Awful. Cold.

Looks quite good for the price. Can you not return to aldi if there is a problem?

Opposite experience. Six year old Medion P6620 laptop still doing its duty. New touch screen laptop bought for daughter is much loved!
Oh, just realised this is from Aldi so you get a three year warranty vs the one year you get from buying directly from Medion. And yes, before anyone asks, they do indeed honour the three year warranty.

I think so, not sure. You will need to ask at the till. But i have purchased Medion products before and never experienced any problems. But, there is always the first time, but i do like the fact there is a long guarantee!

Not absolutely sure but I think you can take it back to Aldi in the first month and get an exchange or your money back, no questions asked. They are very fair that way are Aldi. After that, if you have a problem you contact the Medion warranty people. Back in 2011 the screen on my P6620 died when the back light failed. They arranged collection, transport to Germany for repair and couriered it back. Think it took two to three weeks as I recall. Good service!

Full HD at this price? Where?

A cold vote from me. Although there are some positive points (3 year warranty, 1080p screen) that's about it. There are a lot of laptops with this spec (except screen) for the same money, the majority include a free 1-year subscription to Office 365 which in itself has a value of £59, this laptop comes with a 30-day trial, after which you have to subscribe if you want to keep using it.

This laptop is targeted at the student audience which will probably need access to Office so that makes a significant difference. An equivalent PC such as the ASUS X205TA, which comes in at about the same specs, sans 1080p, comes in at £159 from PC World, but take off the subscription value and this drops the price to £100.

As for the screen, yes the high resolution seems like a benefit, but remember that this is a very low powered device and the extra real-estate will put additional strain on the processor, plus this will reduce battery life too - so it may not be as great as it first appears.

Just use open office. You can easily buy a cheap office licence but you cannot easily upgrade a laptop screen so much better bet getting this first.

Plus my Lenovo Miix 3 has same processor and resolution, handles it no problem.

Other than the fact it's Medion, which are just as good as any cheap laptop brand, this is a very hot deal with little to moan about for the asking price.

Im going to go for one of these on the 27th but not if they do not have USB3 though.
For £20 more you get 64gb ssd in Germany's equivalent of Aldi called "Hoffer"

bummer

It's a pity that the screen can't be detached for tablet usage.

For an 11.6" full HD screen it's probably in the right price bracket in comparison to others of the same kind of spec.

I have always good medion products, brought my 1st medion laptop (XP) over 10 years ago from Safeway's still working, brought another 5 years ago from aldi windows 7 never ever had a problem, their customer service was great when I rang them, nothing wrong with the laptop it was my fault I had done something I shouldn't, they arranged a courier to pick it up and they sorted it out for me and I had it back within the week, have just brought my 3rd medion laptop (8.1) last month direct from medion in germany

Interesting. I've only bought one Medion product before (bread maker) it was a present and my brother said it didn't come with a dough hook. Fired over an email and they sent me out a new one all the way from Germany free of charge was very happy with that.

Then... two weeks later he found the original dough hook in a pile of rubbish in his front room, whoops! But at least it means they didn't muck that up either.

I would happily pay even £100 more for similar laptop from reputable manufacturer like Toshiba or Asus. I would be grateful for any links.

In my local Aldi all Medions were sold out at 9AM, so I can`t comment on build quality, but on paper this little notebook looks almost ideal for my needs. I was looking for something like that for a while.
I don`t understand why this topic is not hot. Heat from me.

These are good for the money. I know it isn't 1080P but the other features are improved. I got my dad a B50 the 15.6" bigger brother at christmas and he is very happy with it. I think that was 170 afternthe cashback deal at the time.

It depends what one is looking for. In this Lenovo I like only maximum supported RAM. I am not sure if in Medion from Aldi any upgrade is possible. It is not a deal breaker, but I would appreciate more RAM than only 2GB.

The medion from aldi cannot be upgraded everything is soldered to the board and the processor specs state it only supports 2GB of ram. The lenovo looks like the better deal if your not bothered about the 1080p screen and it supports a maximum of 8GB of ram.

Went to 4 different Aldi's. All sold out. Pretty annoyed! What's worse is Customer Service couldn't help me track one down in my local store, so I literally had to resort to driving to each Aldi store to find out if they had any stock. Rediculous.
Edited by: "waxsta" 27th Aug 2015

They are all sold out:- two per store and gone by 08.01h.
I've had numerous purchases (3 year warranty) and no problems with any of them that weren't resolved easily. Camera battery recharger replaced (no supporting paperwork req'd) forgot to pick up receipt in March and therefore no evidence for warranty, replaced when I realised two weeks after purchase. In store staff helpful and phone/email help the same.

A presumption or reference to one particular store?

This morning I got one just after 8; with nobody else looking for one.

I managed to get the only one they were selling at my local store. (If they had 2 then I suspect a member of staff had the other one as I was the first and only customer there wanting one).

It is a very good Notebook, I can even use it as a 3d movie player with my Sony HMZ-T3 3D viewers using the HDMI output.

They've stop advertising on their website. Looks like they didn't expect the demand. Completely sold out now.
