Just bit the bullet on this to see what it's like. More than decent specs for the price, even has a 128GB SSD on top of the 1TB HDD for the OS.

Nice!
I was looking at it a few days ago, but decided against buying a gamaing laptop all together for now. I'd rather wait and see what the recently announced Intel/AMD CPU/GPU combo can do. But for anyone looking to buy a decent mid-range gaming laptop this is a smashing deal, especially since it's not only great spec for that price but also comes with a very decent display, reasonable battery life and excellent (read quite) cooling. Check out notebookcheck's review, top marks for Medion, they sure got this one right.

Is that the only difference? I've been double taking the 2 for a few minutes now.
Also, keen to hear what people's confidence in Medion is like? Reliable? Hinges okay?

Doesn’t mention the 128gb SSD in the ‘about this product’ section but does in the ‘why we love it’ section...... strange

Yeah I wasn't sure on all that, I'd prefer the ssd over the usb c port I think. Another note is the pics on the Argos website differ from other pics on the web for the Erazer X6603. With regards to build quality for Medion stuff I haven't ever held or seen one myself, however other more expensive brands such as Dell and HP have never impressed me on that front either (in this price range that is).

Should arrive tomorrow anyway so I'll confirm what I actually get!
Here I am getting excited about getting a laptop with a GT 745m GPU
Any other 1070 gtx out there sub 1200?

I think that's the only difference (128gb SSD vs USB C), but you should definitely check the VRAM when it arrives. The other one definitely specifies 4gb, but the one in your post could be 2gb.

That would be annoying if it is the 2GB version, it does say 4GB in the 'why we love it' bit for the one I ordered though. Seems the descriptions on both pages are a bit all over the place, in the initial description of the other (USB-C) one it says 1050 rather than 1050 Ti, for example.
i have a medion bought in nov for there price its top specs. however the fans on mine can be loud it depends on the load. screens are ips. they are rebrand clevo just google them and your find more info then you will on medion, if you can find the clevo ver there be near the same i have the x7853 from argos if you want info i have the dx info if anyone wants the specs graphics should be gddr 5 (think ive put it in right do correct if not)

Any other 1070 gtx out there sub 1200?

paid £1305 in nov now £1575 argos medion x7853 (was £2000 in pc world)
heres the same one on medions site with full specs (note some are custom builds for argos)

medion.com/gb/…tml

Here is quick look at the spectre which has the Intel cpu and Vega gpu built in.
There is one model which is higher but it isn't great for gaming.

I personally would go for either a ultrabook or maybe a laptop with a 1050 or higher in it.

Have a skip through.

Cool, first impressions? Anything making you think: "hmmmmm"?

It looks amazing, I really like the keyboard. Only bad thing is the speakers are not the best but I either use headphones or Bluetooth speakers so it's not applicable for me.
Got mine this morning, very impressed. The casing is that rubbery sort of plastic and feels solid. 4gb vram and a usb c port so the descriptions on the website are just a bit off.
Also the pictures are not exactly what the laptop looks like! Much nicer looking if you search for pictures of it elsewhere you can see it, has the triangle top of the lid.
So which one to go for ?? usb c or 128gb ssd drive????
Or are we saying both actually have both??

Also what’s the state of play with the ram? How many slots and what’s in it? Is it 2x 4gb or 1 x 8gb??
Well I ordered the 1 that doesn't say 128gb ssd and it came with the ssd and a USB C... Also checked the ram and it comes as 1 x 8gb and 2 slots so 1 free slot. The ssd is m.2, I have another m.2 ssd but it's sata connection. I tried it but couldn't get the laptop to recognize it
Sounds like a great deal then, as nothing close to this spec with 1050 ti anywhere I can find!
Would the USB ç port allow an external GPU? I.e.thunderbolt?
What's the benefit of the USB C port?

What's the benefit of the USB C port?

That's what I'm trying to figure out!
If a thunderbolt port, then will allow an egpu or other high bandwidth accessories in the future
Tried to post this today, didn't realize it had been posted already. Mashing deal! Ordered yesterday, received today. Definitely the cheapest 1050Ti i've seen around. Ordered the one without ssd specified but mine still has a 128GB ssd. I think argos should update the laptop's details
Is battery life as bad as the reviews say?

Is battery life as bad as the reviews say?

i got over 4hrs of battery life watching YouTube videos, general browsing, installing fortnite and watching a movie (about 1hr 30mins) with brightness level at half. This was the first time of me using the laptop on battery alone so maybe it still has a little more to offer.
Edit: the power plan was set at ,better performance'
