Brilliant machine .... MEDION - the thinking man's PC/Laptop!!

HOT, HOT, HOT ....

Medion have never really had the best reputation for quality though....

I have had Medion stuff before and not too bad quality but with this the thing that lets it down is that damn Vista

old processor, not full hd resolution, vista

Great if it was made by someone else

Still hot though

Far too big. Best to stick to a notebook PC. I have a 10.1 inch one and that is big enough for anyone.

I have had 5 Medion PC's and 3 Medion Laptops .... never, ever, had a problem.

To think they are such value is an extra bonus IMO.

Being a Badge snob costs you lots of money - Badge snobbery should have no place on a site such as this.

I've got the P8610...18.4in and 3.7kg...and I love it!

Are you sure the reason that you have had so many isnt because they keep breaking! Just kidding, never owned one, so cant comment, seems like a good deal to me...

My medion laptop died last month after 2.5 years use. In that time ive had to replace 3 adapters as the wire snaps very easily, 2 batteries (completely flat after 12 months so got a new one the first time under warranty) and finally due to extensive overheating, it has given up and will no longer boot. Some IT guys suggested the motherboard has blown

Saying that I paid £400 for a mid-spec gaming laptop at the time which was at least £100 less than any other brand with equivalent spec.

I guess for £291, this is a good price even if it only lasts a couple of years

Far too big.

That's the second dumbest comment I've seen today.
I think it's about the right size for a 17" laptop X).

I've never been a fan of Medion, but that's a lot of laptop for not a lot of money.
I doubt anyone will find a better specced 17" lappy for that price.

Vista is usable providing it's fully updated.

The good thing in this laptop is 16:10 screen.

sorry my mistake, however it doesn't seem to be core2duo so does that mean it is 32bit?

bigbaz

It's a Dual core Processor

Blu-ray player on a laptop with a single core processor and an non-HD screen? Pointless!

Its 64 bit. Its basically a core2duo with less cache and a couple of features taken out.

Amazing price. Will order I think!

Its DUAL CORE.

And it has better res than all thos 'HD ready' teles.

Has HDMI too if you have a full hd device to connect to

I wish people wouldn't make comments on stuff they have no idea about.

Why does everybody keep saying this is a single core processor
as far as I can see it's a Dual Core

designaw

Blu-ray player on a laptop with a non-HD screen? Pointless!

So the fact that you can play your Blu-ray collection on your laptop as well as in the lounge is pointless? Get real.

Forget the naysayers...this is a fantastic bargain.

CPU - Dual core with plenty of oomph (1Mb cache instead of 2... makes it 5% slower, 1% of the time)
Memory - Plenty
Graphics - 9500M, so better than an Ion net-top...be fine for low-spec gaming
Vista - ok, if you take an image of your favourite installation and re-image every 6 months.

Bargain.

Decisions \decisions. I am after a 17" laptop. Is it worth hanging about and paying a few extra quid for a i3 chip. I am looking to spend £350, even if its a refurb.

When you look at some of the posts on this site, you have to admit that some people are complete muppets!
Not everyone wants to pay through the nose for the latest piece of kit.
It just has to do the job you want it to do.
Why pay BMW prices when a Kia will do the job.

2 out of 2 medion laptops have gone wrong for me; it will last circa 12mths imho- if you need it to last longer get a 3yr warranty would be my advice...........

Yeah I did see that but it had mixed reviews. But my question remains is there such a gap in performance from this proccessor to an i3 that it warrants the extra 60 quid for an i3 proccessor.

Is just me or is the medion website down at the moment???

run away now!!!!

Perfect! The wife wanted a better laptop. She can have my old Akoya, this one's for me!

Surely the HP 17 inch Laptop in the thread below is worth paying 50 quid more for unless you need the Laptop to play Blurays????

I have had nothing but issue's when I brought a Medion machine. After it was a year old, parts started to fail, customer support was great though. They never had a problem replacing bits.

The gfx chip ih here is on par with modern day macbooks

I have my Medio Akoya subnetop thing I bought 1.5 years ago, the Battery still last 3 hours and the machine has been lugged around europe and plugged in various hotel HDMI sockets.

Build quality I could not fault it and I'm a tech savvy person spending the last 12 years working in IT Support.

This is cheap and I would say a good replacement for any lower end laptop.

Voted hot.

and Vista, it's fine fully updated. Windows 7 is nice to have though still.
