Mega Marshmallows 550g now £1 in Poundstretcher, in-store at Birkenhead

Found today in Poundstretcher's Birkenhead store, 550g packs of "Mega" Marshmallows reduced to £1 from £1.99, probably because B.B. date is 4/11/19. I've tried one of them (they're massive!) and they taste fine/fresh, both in texture and flavour.
Posted as a local deal but hopefully available in other Poundstretcher stores.

For info.: Produced in Belgium and contain pork gelatine

best before 4.11.19???!!!
they do realise that is 2 days AFTER the best before
they should give it for free for people who don't mind about the BB

Yes, but "Best Before" is very different to "Use By". They're still fine. After all, they don't go off at the stroke of midnight!
still, don't understand how they still keep that in store. you dont know the condition it was kept and it may affect the taste and they should sell it less than half price just for that reason alone! but that's my opinion... didn't vote either way.

If they're no good just take them back and get a refund. Truth is they're going to taste the same as they did a year ago.
Put one in a hot chocolate for creamy hot chocolate or a coffee for a creamer you can eat at the end
Fortunately, there's stores springing up all over, selling food that's over a year past its best before, for huge discounts, instead of seeing it go to landfill... Turns out Best before dates are massively over safe. I've got pop tarts from six months ago, you wouldn't know by eating them.

Poundstretcher routinely sell past their Best Before at massive discounts! It is why I go there 99.9% of the time and I think it’s brilliant. The food clearance section at my local Poundstretcher is extremely generous – virtually everything past the BB is 20p regardless of original price. Why waste perfectly good food? To this day I’ve never experienced anything that tastes off and I’m still alive so it’s all good. You should def give it a whirl

Definitely going to check my local Poundstretcher to see if they have reduced the marshmallows! When WH Smith’s were selling similar, I was lucky enough to get the two bags for 50p each RTC. It would be great to find these (possibly even cheaper) – heat!
it was 20p I would definitely will try

don't get me wrong, I did eat in my life things after the BB...not all of them the taste was as it's fresh, but as you said "still alive"...the thing that in store they were fresh I was the one who forgot that I bought so ate after the BB, but never went and bought something that I already knew it's passed time... that should be a first for me...if I could bring myself to do so.

SCORE!

These weren’t actually in the clearance section yet but I saw a box on the full price shelf that had same BB as OP. I think the store assistants just hadn’t gotten to them yet, but when I took them to the checkout and showed them the BB they put them through at 20p each without question.

Ten bags for 20p each. £2 well spent.

Thanks OP! Wouldn’t have checked otherwise

EDIT: these actually work out a much better deal than the WHSmith mallows. That was a 340g bag, compared withthe Poundstretcher ones are 550g!

Brilliant!! . I'm pleased you got an even better bargain!
Tried them? They felt fine in the packaging and tasted great upon opening and eating one of these monsters

I'll try that when I'm next in the Birkenhead store (going to take a snapshot of yr pics.)

Thanks! I’m also glad you managed to sample some The £1 looks like a standard clearance price, not the BB short dated price, they might do an additional generous discount. I’ll have my fingers crossed for you.

I just opened a pack to try one and they taste great. They are selling long wooden skewers RTC @ a nearby Tesco express so I’m going to buy to toast these. There will be s’mores and mallow-y hot choc for days. Great for this cold weather!
