I think most have gone off of it. Nintendo ruined it.

Thanks for the credit ando, very courteous.

I don't mind at all, glad it seems so popular.

All Amiibos / Skylanders / Infinity toys should be more like this...
i.e. A toy.

Kids don't play with immobile figurines stuck to bases so they get no joy from them (other than the 15 mins of locked content they open up in 1 or 2 games).
Dimensions is a step in the right direction but it would have been better to remove the need for bases.

Heat for the deal btw - We've got the std wooley one though so I can't justify the purchase (_;)

The new super charge toys from skylanders are meant to be a toy as well as a nfc figure. The vehicles at least were advertised with moving wheels etc.

Amiibo in my opinion are the worse of the lost. sure they open small content in a few different games. But would you rather that or a Nintendo game that copies the other toys to life brands and made a huge Nintendo world style game. Would've helped the Wii U in sales.

What's to say that still won't happen? Saturate the market with amiibo's then release a portal/base in which they all interact with a new game and more amiibos?

Can someone explain whats so special about this, (Amiibo noob) how is £24.99 a "deal" when the vast majority of them are £9.99?

But this one is MEGA!!! It's basically an oversized Amiibo, it's not the same size as the others but much bigger

Most are about 3" tall, this is almost 11". If you click on the deal link, there's a review that shows the difference in size

Amiiibo's are not that bad, its the Animal Crossing cards that give unlockable content I really have issue with. Amiibos at least give you a collectible figurine or ornament with resale value. A few tatty cards aint gonna be too collectible. It is unfortunately they are being produced thick and fast.... and they haven't even touched the surface of what could be Amiibo'd.

If he visits a GAME store he can see that the plush is considerably big so that's nice to have somewhere on the bed with other plushes or for a kid to play with.

Maybe I shouldn't say this here but people nowadays can get amiibo content unlocked for free by using custom amiibo cards.

When I say free, it depends because the user needs to already have an NFC Card Reader (either USB or Smartphone-compatible), NFC Smart Tag and a couple of other things. The NFC Smart Tag is extremely cheap but the USB NFC Reader is not (around £20).

I looked it at this the other week when mentioned on here, but I am a scatty parent and have forgotten all the info I read. I do recall the unit thing you buy is about £60 and can hold the data for 200 Amiibos.

My 6-7 yr old really likes collecting the Mario Land amiibo's and actually plays with them much to my surprise as well. If I were just a sole adult gamer then I don't think I'd be too bothered about collecting them in the physical sense.

That's a device which makes it easier but with these custom amiibo cards it makes it pointless and now very little people will actually go for it.

Well ye but it's woolly and is also a amiibo
Edited by: "ando" 11th Jan 2016

This is actually made of yarn i.e. it's plush. So it's a large Yoshi plush that functions as an amiibo due to the sensor in it's foot. £24.99 is still a bit steep for me. If it hits sub £20 I might be tempted.

It's an idea I hope they do bring. But at this state, only the link and maybe toon link (if I purchase) would be the only one from the amiibo franchise.

Flubit will save me 37p on this lol.
