Megabus Sale – Coach Tickets for £1 (e.g. London to Paris or Amsterdam and many more)

Found 2nd Apr 2013
Megabus.com currently has a sale (unadvertised) with seats for only £1 on the entire route network for travel between May – October 2013.

The booking fee is 50p per booking. If you book several travel at one time, you have to pay the booking fee just once.

It’s surely not the most comfortable way to travel but the price is a stunner though: 1£ for a one way ticket is really, really convenient. Another plus: 20 kg of baggage are included and you´ll be riding from city centre to city centre, whereas flying almost always means transfers, which usually cost extra.

See the first comment for sample bookings.

So long,

took this bus last year to amsterdam. uncomfortable as hell but leaves you with more money to "burn"

(though I think I may have burnt a little too much as I ended up missing the return bus and paying £80 for a flight back instead haa)

Is Eurolines /IDbus better than megabus......

Been on both, about the same really,

I went two weeks ago on night Megabus to Amaterdam, bus had wifi which was good, I bagged a back seat, by the emergency exit, not such a good idea, it was sub zero outside, and I had a constant freeze breeze blowing through the exit handle, on to my leg...I was shaking with cold when I arrived, couldn't swap seats as it was packed.

The ferry over was horrible, again because of the poor weather conditions and I believe a previous ferry had been cancelled, people were lying all over the floor for the 90 minute journey, really was like something from a disaster movie, loads of drunken groups in fancy dress mooching about (students, stag dos, etc)... Really quite bizarre, I was near the loos, and saw loads of folk running in to get sick as it was rather choppy to say the least.

I would say it was very unlucky with the weather, as when we arrived, on time, in the morning, and I had a coffee and a (delicious) apple pie in Amsterdam McDs for 2 euros (great deal by the way) I actually felt pretty good, had had a nice snooze after the ferry journey. So for a few quid it really isn't bad, glad I booked a cheap flight for the return though, but if weather is reasonable its not bad

Just had a quick look, could not find any £1 deals for May, a few £4, most are normal price... Quite a few £1 in July...

Well... seats reserved - £1 each way to/from Glasgow to/from London... Total cost £2.50

Looked back to see how much next seats cost... £10 each way... So next person needs to pay £20.50 for same seats... mwahahahaha!

the 'coach park' (essentially a car park) is in the centre of paris really, its not far from a metro station and its easy to get ANYWHERE from there. nearest bars and shops are literally over the road. champs elysees is about a 5 minute walk too.

I did megabus in february... best thing ive ever done, BUT get there early and you need to check in ONE HOUR before you get on the coach. make sure you fight for a good seat you're going to be comfortable in for 8 hours. I cannot recommend it enough though.
And to make it clear - this is not a 'sale' but the release of their summer and autumn tickets. Until last week, the last ticket available was mid-May 2013.
Looks like it's pretty much one seat per journey that the £1 price applies to.

Booked a seat to Paris and back in October, but when my girlfriend went to do the same they were £5! Sucks to be her.

Also booked myself a day trip to Edinburgh in August with overnight journeys, always wanted to go there!
Hi so whats the nearest metro station the car park in paris
What other places can I go to with this deal? Booked a ticket to Amsterdam for a long weekend in July, should be fun, thinking about taking another one in August. Paris isn't that great.
Thanks, just booked couple days in Amsterdam for £2.50 return. Perfect.
Where can you select seats or is it first come first served?
I done the London to Brussels to amsterdam and back last year
Yes it's not that comfy but it stops a few times for a leg stretch and our coach went not the ferry
Most importantly it's damn cheap
Sooner do this than fly or Eurostar it
Each to their own, but given the relatively cheap price of flights and be out the extra £50 odd quid and save on a 20+ hour round trip.

Heat none the less

Walk round the big tall hotel, and theres a station there, but tbh, I just walked into paris, was a lovely walk, took 30 mins. I would do this again, but paris is too expensive, with not all that much to do enjoyed it though.
Just booked a LIverpool to Paris for £1 in the summer.

Cheers, will return via easyjet for £40
cheaper than day to go in Cardiff as its £3.40p
What kind of dates are people looking at? Cant seem to find any cheaper than £20
Some tips for the bus trip for newbies.

Have to wear a seatbelt, unless you are going to the loo, so can't lie down, etc.

Can't drink alchohol

The driver asks you not to do number twos in the loo (true). Was quite amusing his speech at the beginning.

I was surprised that we didn't have any comfort breaks, except for boarding the ferry, when I went with Eurolines we had a couple of stops. Maybe it was because it was a night bus, and people sleep much of it.

The French customs guys are a bit tough looking, I wouldn't mess about with them

Contemplating 4 days in Belgium in October! £1 there and a £1 back, £100 quid for hotel. Bargain break!
No good for Glasgow
Darroch

No good for Glasgow

Where are you trying to go? if Glasgow to Europe, you should look at split ticketing via London
Hottttt
any tips on how to find the 1 pound prices? mine are all coming up as £25

The coach station is not in the centre of paris just so you know, ive been on three separate ocassions. The coach station connects to the subway so yes you can use that but it can be really annoying with a suitcase going through the barriers etc,. But 99% you will need to use the subway as the coach station is on the outskirts of town.
Can you book your seats i.e buy 2 seats together for 1 person
where do I find the selected dates mines coming out at 76 quid
Megabus seats are always FROM £1 as advertised on their buses , however there are very few available at this price and you have to book way ahead to get tickets for that price , but it can be done HEAT for advertising it
Useless for glasgow they don't even do Glasgow to Blackpool at all!! was also looking for Glasgow to creamfields festival couldnt find anything either.

I doubt Glasgow to Blackpool is an in-demand journey. You know they are a business, right?
Good price

Nothing stopping you buying two seats, seats are not allocated. My bus was packed, but I assume if I had purchased two seats I would sit on the aisle seat initially to keep my 2 seat allocation, at least till all have settled down

However, it does look like tenses £1 deals are for the first ticket purchased on a service, so second ticket would bea fair bit moremoney (see examples noted by others)
I can't get to see dates beyond the end of May on the date of travel. Any ideas how to get to see September dates?
Great deal if you are purchasing a single ticket, full price after the first one is taken though...
If I book 1 ticket it's a pound, if i book two it's £17 in total !!!!
