Seems good but the bar thickness of a shorter than standard Olympic bar I bought is much thinner - something I had not expected and do not like. Something to bare in mind

For clarity I’m referring to where you grip the bar as opposed to where you load the weights ..
My sister has one of these in her (toe) nail kit
I think it’s for getting ingrown nails out or something like that
Looks fine for lifting up to 💯, but wouldn't get a bar with only 135kg max weight to do 3 digit lifting. Best with a bar to get one with few hundred kg max weight to be on safe side in case of bar snapping for heavy lifting I think.

I agree, it does depend on your overall fitness plan. But I opted for a 6ft bar that would fit a power rack with a max load of 300kg, granted was more than double the price of this but worth it for my weight training goals
Bear in mind, depending what kind of rack you have, that the thin bar length on this is 117 cm which is about 15cm shorter than a standard bar and might not quite fit your rack.

Looks like they've shaved 1/2 foot from the shaft and 1/2 foot from the sleeves to drop the length from 7ft to 6ft

Iirc some places, including Mirafit, do 6ft bars with a ' standard' Olympic shaft and take all the length reduction from the sleeves.

I reckon I can lift that

Thanks, useful info to know as l tend to use Olympic Bars for bicep curls as they provide less strain & wear on your hands.

It is a good price for this. I have one and used it regularly until I bought the Mirafit international bar to replace it. This (Argos) one fits my power cage (just - not much to spare either side but it does fit). I think the centre section may be 25mm grip instead of the standard 28mm grip (the 6.5ft Women's bar have a 25mm grip also) but not sure - to be honest I didn't find it difficult to use other than needs a bit of care to line up when you rack it as there isn't much spare either side of the rests.
This bar is better suited for Overhead pressing, rows, any back work that you want to use the bar for. Cheap price though
Yes slightly worrying I thought olimpic bars weighed 20kg.. this weighs 11.8 mm mmm. Fishy

Olympic generally refers to the design of the bar (taking weights with a 2" hole). From memory men's standard competition bars are generally 7'2" long and weigh 20kg. Women's standard bars are 6'5" and weigh 15kg. However an Olympic (as in form factor) training bar can weigh whatever it likes. Hex bars can weigh 35kg, EZ bars can weigh 10kg or less. Nothing fishy about it.
Hey @Nick_Pike good deal! Thanks for sharing

Can the argos staff though?

I have to admit that they couldn’t she asked me to go to the area it was stored & to carry it out from behind the tills as it was too heavy for her
