Heat just for the name of the store!

£50 smackers for wellies!!!!
Think I will boot this one into touch.

It's an open secret: Hunters used to be the best wellies but now they're fashion rubbish made in China and won't last long. If you want to use them for real you'd be better off with a £10 pair of Dunlops from SportSoccer.

Besford
.. go find the original Hunter welly, now made in Serbia (really) after Hunter closed their Dumfries operation and moved production to China. Tigar bought the plant and equipment + the unique latex sock dipping process which made Hunter's so good. They are available in the UK under the Century Dip-Tech brand but their marketing department needs to get a serious move on. There's thousands of formally loyal Hunter welly buyers now wondering why their brand new wellys have split after 9 months and haven't a clue about these Century boots, basically the original Hunter pattern boot. They'll catch on eventually, but Tigar seems mostly focused on safety boots, perhaps don't realise they're sitting on a gold mine. And a bonus -they're cheaper than the new Chinese Hunters! You've won a watch..:)

However good they are I think £39 wellies are going to be a problem to shift without a recognised and respected brand name. You need both the product and name to get big money. Sadly, as this example shows, the name is actually more important than the product (for a while anyway).

This seems to be the Century website:
centuryboots.com/

Found more info here:
brandecosse.com/cen…try

Various retailers seem to be offering them around the £50 point.

Thanks Besford. Stuff the label, If they last 5 years I'm happy to buy them!

Uttings.co.uk seem to have a sale on various sizes around £39 mark.
re the point about brand being more important: this is sadly true, born out by Mike Ashley buying up all the distressed bands - Karrimor, Dunlop , Slazenger to name a few, and then flogging largely crap with his growing stable of formerly glorious names. IMHO this can only last for so long, brands built on quality can only survive as a inferior product for so long - basically until the public wises up, which they likely will. Eventually...
