Used to buy Merrells just based on style, even they I knew from experience that they fall apart in 6 months. Now buy Salomon and they last 3 times as long. (edited)

Can you recommend any Salomon walking trainers please, for winter use? As with every market, it's a bit of a minefield when you're just trying to find a good quality item that will last. Even within the same brands, there are sometimes bad models to be avoided.

Merrells at TK Maxx must be outlet quality. I have some Merrells I bought five years ago that held up beautifully. Moved and decided to get a new pair locally, saw them at TK Maxx for 40 quid. They literally ripped open when I stepped in a particularly squishy mud puddle 😳

its the shoe industry in general its gone to the dogs ..cheap materials being used now to save costs its across all brands such a shame

I tried these on in store - pretty tight. I normally go for a 10, measuring smaller at 9 to 9.5. 9 was unbearable even with thin socks. 10 was ok.
These are really thick, insulated, more suited to a lot of time in the snow I think.

I'm bit late to help anyone but I agree. I bought the same size as my usual merrells (had many pairs) and these are very tight and a totally different shape. I should have sent them back but I persevered. But with thin socks and having to remove the insole, hopefully they'll stretch a bit!
