If only there was an ‘unhelpful’ reaction. Sorry guys.

Lots of Goretex stuff on sale at the moment. It is being phased out and will probably banned as the primary ingredient is a PFAS or forever chemical.

    Nice deal - heated.
Worth noting that delivery isn't free (have to spend over £100).
And returns aren't free either (unless they're faulty).
I was thinking of ordering 8.5 *and* 9 (to make sure I got the right size), This would get me free delivery. But if I they weren't comfortable, I end up having to return both pairs.
    Hmmm

I didn’t spend anything on delivery when purchasing even though it says you have to on main page when you get to checkout  there was no delivery cost for me. (edited)

    Unfortunately 'BERGHAUS' now = Sportsdirect!
No comparison with the quality brand of 10/20/30+ yrs ago. (edited)

I have loads of Berghaus gear as I'm out walking my enormous hound for hours every day of the year and it is still good gear. I have a 7 year old goretex coat that is still brilliant at keeping me dry. Same for my deluge over trousers. I buy a pair of their goretex suede boots every 2 years and only have to change them as the soles have completely worn to nothing. They still do free repairs too. Maybe the cheapo fleeces might be garbage but the goretex stuff is still good in my experience.

Good price OP, tempted, how do these stack up to Scarpas?
    Avatar
No comparison IMO. Scarpa and Meindl rule the leather boot world. Berghaus leather boots have always been a bit "meh" for comfort and longevity.
  11. Avatar
They're significantly better than the Scarpa's I had before

got these and the hill walkers two years ago ...I think they are about half a size up ..have to wear thick socks

Nearly purchased these , opted for Meindl instead. Great boots.

Which ones did you get in the end?

Great boots. Well made, Gore-Tex, and nicely finished. They are also nice and light which is great when on longer walks/hikes. Highly recommend.

I have these. Quite qood but the quality of stitching on the tongue is really poor. I sent my first pair back only to find after a visit to a local store they are all like that.

Also it would be nice if the laces had an eyelet on the tongue to keep it in place.

The laces although substantial don't keep tight unless you double knot them.

These are my dailys at the moment for walking the dog on muddy foot paths, I got them January last year (granted about half this price) and they've so far done 225 miles (my Garmin app tracks it, sad I know ). Nice boots for casual stuff for sure. I would always wear something a bit more heavy duty when I go into the mountains.

I've walked 2000+ miles in the last year walking the dogs , I go thru about 3 pairs of gore-tex trail shoes per year.

I wear these daily for dog walking and family walks sept to may on all terrain and they are excellent. Had my current pair for 18 months now. The pair prior lasted 3 or 4 years.

How much is delivery? I hate sites that are not up front about delivery charges. I was tempted until they want me to sign up first before showing me final price.

No delivery fee when you get to checkout page and I didn’t like the sign up bit either but very easy to sign up though you didn’t even need to put your address in if I remember right and if you sign up using the above code you get £5 off as well (edited)

You can buy them at go outdoors and they’ll price match and beat by 10%. Worth knowing! They might honour BLC on top too

Any of the brands mentioned in comments particularly better for bunion and arthritic feet. 34 years of going up and down ladders has had its affect. Not to mention previous footballing years and various other sports.

A good pair of slippers and put your feet up

Great boots. Really comfortable. Hard wearing. These originally were made and sold as Brasher Supalites which was when I first started buying them years ago.

I brought these back in Oct/Nov and I will say that mine took some breaking in. Got blisters the size of 50pence pieces on both feet the first time I wore them. I only walked my dog for a mile and half. I have to wear toe cap boots as an engineer for work, and my employer doesn’t spend anywhere near what these cost, and I’ve never suffered in 20 years wearing cheaper boots. Just be aware that they’re not the easiest boots on your feet when you first wear them. They’re ok(ish) now after wearing them in, but i honestly expected more for the expense.
