Seems good to me! Mine's 05 plate so nearly at (or maybe is at) the 7 year mark. It's arounrd 180 days overdue for the last service, does that mean that I still qualify? Unsure how much you ave looked into it! Thanks

Mine is an 05 e-class and I got it done at Loughborough Dealership
Cold as its still overpriced.

Just book my c coupe in at a local merc indi for an A service for £65. They will even come to my work to collect!

Not a great deal to be honest. It's basically £120 (minimum) for an oil change and a car wash... Everything else is just an 'inspection' and since the car is 7+ years old, what's the betting that everything (poly belt, brake fluid, etc.) will need to be changed and charged at their usual extortionate prices?

Well its still not a dealership price! This is cheap looking at dealer prices.... I can get my merc serviced for that price too but at the end of the day it wont be Mercedes doing the Job

I agree, its a lot of money for an oil and oil filter change..but if you want to do it at Mercedes you gotta pay the price lol...unfair but thats the reality.. nothing can replace a Mercedes Dealer stamp on the service book

and then they offer you jack s**t for it as par ex lol
Mercedes = rubbish service. i had a fiver knicked out of mine after cleaning lol then an mot full price and they took it across the road which was £15 cheaper lol
change the oil and filter for decent oil at any garage and the merc will tell you if owts wrong.
sorry but there is only one decent merc garage near me and its an independent garage not the large dealership and half price too.
for anyone whos interested its Mercedes first @ Nottingham, top guys and very reasonable
Do they sell mercs at this garage at Nottingham I'm after an slk cheap around 5 to 7 years old thankyou for your help
Good Find OP, This is brilliant , I went to book my E CLASS in for a service last week price was £460 + VAT told them to shove it phoned them up about this deal and would you believe it price dropped to £149, this is a superb price for a Merc stamp in the book, oh and just to ad this is £100 cheaper than one Indy Garages I called for a servicing price and £170 cheaper than another

This isn't purely a Mercedes thing, other manufacturers do it too. I know BMW have been doing "Value" servicing for the last two years or so.

The difference between the prices is called profit.
Most Businesses work on this principle.
Dealers are stealers. It is laughable that they charge so much and more fool us for paying it. Just mnake sure you dont have a wheelnut loose when you take it for a service and get charged £200 for having it tightened.

I had a Saab back in 1998 and it went wrong, the AA guy was clueless and towed it into Saab City who charged me over £400 for a £27.99 (their price) distributor cap and the rest for fitting it and driving around in it for a couple of hours to "test" it.

Never EVER again will I go to a Stealership.
still £100 / hour labour
I do however have a 430ML on my drive that is around £100 in oil and filter alone (Massive 4,3 engine) so I might take it to the Stealer for the sake of £50.

Inspections are only a blag into seeing what else they can do you for.
Not bad but the local Skoda garage has been doing mot and service for £99 on all cars over 4 years old for some time now.
Cold, £119 for what is basically an oil change and then you will get the usual main dealer sales, "brake pads look low" and "could do with new shocks"etc etc

that's actually a good point.
leaving the type of cars aside it makes me wonder when the likes of KIA (@ least i think it is) gives a 7 year warranty yet Mercedes , one of the so called better cars only give 3 years
Wake up manufacturers and dealerships and smell the coffee!!! people arnt that daft any more

totally agree
and any merc past 5 years old wont be any more value with a different servicer.
to be fair it may sell better but not for more
i have an 11 year old c class and my son in law has always looked after it.
are you kidding me. what a rip off. goes to show people what **** they will listen to

100 pound for a 4.3 litre engine. how much oil does it use?

some car places that do cheap oil changes have a limit to the cc for a certain price

i dont think its cold for Mercedes dealer price... find me a cheaper deal by another dealer?

We all know that its cheaper doing it with other third parties Who doesen't know that?

My point is... stop crying about it being expensive...these are dealer prices, you may not like it but there are others who have different views

Point is there's not much point in having it serviced by the dealer, its a 5 year old merc not a brand new one. This is a cold deal for people with half a brain, hot deal if your a twit.

Even I think they are overpriced but unfortunately they are doing it because they can afford to... they know we need that mercedes stamp and our details on their systems...this is true for almost all other things. If you buy it directly from the shop its likely to be more expensive than buying it through a third party.

Am happy to know that it was helpful posting it here
I speak from experience.
I would never ever go to a Mercedes dealer again unless I really really had to.

An example of the many occasions I had to use them.

Engine change on 5 year old motor.
Quote from indie dealer - £999 all in.
Quote from Mercedes £2500 all in. Nothing more to pay. But full warranty and guarantees.
Eventual cost after additions which I was told I must do (such as water pumps) £4000.
This i was told after they had done the bulk of the work. No turning back.
Receipt given was all gobbledegook.

Mugs offer.
Much better going to an independant and asking them to do an oil/filter change, will be about £30, as that is all this is.
It says visual inspection of power fluid, coolant, not check to see if it has broken up and therefore replace.

Bascially you're paying some 16 year old £120 for them to wash your car and change an oil filter. Checking lights, fluid levels, tyres etc can be done yourself no matter how awful you are with cars... Unless you've got a 3 year old or less merc where you need the FMBSH stamp for the next buyer to think your car has been so well looked after, go elsewhere.

Edit - just reread its for cars over 7 years anyway. Who would want to service an 8 year old A class at main dealer? Its 6 months away from the scrap heap probably. And best place for it.

The majority of car dealers have offered similar 'simple pricing' strategies for years to help improve their abhorrent and inflated pricing/service/attitude.

I wonder the true benefit of paying 'extra' for the dealership to service your car over the lifetime of ownership, and then compare it with a part-exchange value price due to having your precious service book stamped.

I can hazard a guess that you won't be too impressed with your findings.

Were you not expecting an impartial MoT inspection?
Dealer service preference understandable, but I would prefer any MoT inspection be as impartial as possible.
Ah-ha...I shall let my neighbour Mr Khan know!
Cold

Why the hell would I pay someone to check my tyres, seat belts and wiper blades? What madness
I think this is cheap for a dealer "service" but would question the value of that dealer stamp on a car that's old enough to qualify for this deal?

In my experience you want the dealer service on the new vehicles to ensure the initial warranty is maintained. Once that runs out the only value in a dealer service is the perceived value when you sell the vehicle - which is of rapidly diminishing value.

FWIW on the Merc and BMW that I ran I always did main dealer services for the first 3 years (not sure how long the main warranty is these days) and then immediately went to any cheap independents with a good reputation thereafter - and I don't think the resale value was affected in any way. In my experience Lucas/AA/Nationwide Autocentres (now Halfords Autocentres) always proved good value and reputable and also had the added advantage of being able to pay for with Clubcard points.... I see that their Full Service is currently £149+ and includes LOTS of lubrication, parts chages, etc, i.e. £30 more for real maintenance. This is only £50 in Clubcard points!

I would also ALWAYS take the car to an impartial MOT centre - e,g. local council service depot or BT fleet - and NEVER MOT at a main dealership.

All that said I've actually given this some heat. Where you choose to get your car serviced is a lifestyle choice. Getting it serviced at a Merc dealer at a MUCH cheaper price than usual is a deal and deserves some heat.

Difficult to put a price against the dealer stamp psychological attractiveness value in the mind of the buyer; just one of the many factors that influence a sale of one car compared to another.

Why pay that much for a Merc stamp when the car is 7 years old or over ? It'll make co ck all difference to the sale / trade in value of the car at that age.
Being for Mercedes over 7 years old maybe they could do a free inspection of all the RUST my 2000 W E-class suffered from. Or look at the RUST on all those S class and C class cars built in the late 90's early 2000s.

The poorly built cars from this period has eroded my trust in the quality of the marque.

This servicing offer is not a good deal for am oil change but at least the offer is there for those who think its a value for a S class or ML.
I may be missing something - but doesn't taking this for a 7 year old merc (that has always been merc serviced) preserve your right to use Roadside Assist? If so - it seems to me a bargain. I had a problem with my 5 year old merc. Mercedes came to my house. Decided the car needed loading and taking to the dealership. They supplied a loan new S class car and repaired it for free because they decided that these part shouldn't have failed in the 5 years. Saved nearly £2k. When merc is good they are good and the extra protection given by Roadside Assist is certainly worth £160 every couple of years plus the other costs.
