Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is an explosive open-world action game set in a massive, highly reactive, war-torn world.

When a power-hungry tyrant messes with Venezuela's oil supply he sparks an invasion that turns the country into a warzone. But for you, international crisis is all upside: you are a mercenary, and you profit from chaos. Mercenaries 2 features a slew of potential clients, all willing to pay you to do their dirty work. These are world powers with deep pockets, deep grudges, and enough arms and ammo to start World War III. This is your kind of environment.

Mercenaries 2 features the latest and most dangerous in civilian and military tech, everything from shiny new sports cars, to the future-tech satellite-guided bunker-busting mini-nuke. Tanks, APCs, boats, luxury automobiles - you name it, you can have it delivered to you in real-time. And if you run out of cash you can always 'acquire' the gear you need in the field.

If you see it, you can buy it, steal it, or blow the living crap out of it. Play your own way, or play with the help of a friend in the new co-op multiplayer mode.

You are not a soldier. You don't have to play by anyone's rules. You have your own code: you will fulfill the terms of the contract, no matter what. Not everyone in the world of Mercenaries is as honorable. Everyone will try and screw you, given the chance. They think they can get away with it, but they don't know rule #1 for mercenaries: everyone pays!

Game any good?

Game any good?

It won't win any awards for strategy, but it is a hell of a lot of fun.

Here's a pretty accurate review from IGN:- ]http//uk…tml

I didn't think it was a good game tbh

Good price

I enjoyed it, definitely worth this price

I've just completed the game and overall I'd say it's fairly poor, there's some enjoyable aspects but they're heavily buried underneath bugs and poor design choices - the whole game just feels very unfinished and rough around the edges. One of the central components of the game is the 'factions' - you do contracts for one faction and they like you which puts you at odds with other factions but then you may do a different contract that puts you at odd with the first one. The problem is that it doesn't even remotely work, the first faction I worked for were convinced I was the enemy so when I called them in to take over a base (which you have to do), they all promptly opened fire on me. Other times when they do realise you are friendly they still shout out 'the enemy merc is here' and then quickly change their mind. You can disguise yourself by going into an enemy vehicle then through their territory without them firing on you except they know it's you and they're just not allowed to shoot which means you get a whole lot of armoured vehicles following you ready to blow you to pieces the moment you step outside the vehicle.

Your support character seems to have little idea where you are in the game and keeps saying the same introductory speeches every single time and even warns you against enemy bases which were destroyed a long time ago. All the characters only have a bank of about five different phrases (no exaggeration) and just keep repeating them over, and over and over again...

Some aspects of the game are satisfying such as calling cruise missiles to destroy a skyscraper but then the satisfaction is immediately taken away when your character gets stuck within the collision area of the debris and it's a restart of the entire mission because there's no save points.

It's a good price, but I was terribly disappointed with the game :-(

John mentions some of the problems above, but I just found it incredibly dull after the first couple of missions. Mercs 1 on the original Xbox was a much better game, which kinda says it all really :?

Now £14.30 if you use today's 10% code, I imagine.
