Merlin Annual Pass with 31 Attractions: Ticket Refund + 25% off = £47.60 (usually £119)

Today I got my Merlin Annual Pass for £47.60 (usually £119). Here's how in 3 easy steps:

Step 1: Exchange your Tesco Clubcard points for a day's theme ticket costing £12.50 of points
e.g. Alton Towers tesco.com/clu…495 (costing £12.50)

Step 2: Visit Theme park (have fun)

Step 3: Go to the Ticket office in the park at any time and buy a Merlin Annual pass. There is currently 25% off, so the price is £89 (usually £119). However you can also get a refund of your park ticket (£41.40) bringing the price down to £47.60

If you want to, you can also upgrade your pass to premium for £40.

p.s. I posted this deal specifically around Tesco Clubcard points but the ticket refund may work for other tickets e.g. free Sun theme park tickets.

Thanks to Chanchi32 for helping in post editing

For clarity, prices quoted in the OP are for a Standard Merlin Annual Pass Family of 3, 4 or 5

If you just want a Merlin Annual pass for an individual then this would be £77.60 (usually £159) - subject to ticket being refunded

I bought my Alton Towers Day ticket £10 from Tesco clubcard vouchers (when it was on offer). But was very pleased to get £41.4 off Annual pass price.

thanks OP - hot deal

If you had some free tickets (e.g. from the Sun) - would you still be able to get a refund if you bought the Merlin pass at the theme park if you purchased that day? Assume not but thought I would ask.

I guess so, as they never objected my ticket being from Tesco. So see no reason Sun ticket getting refused.

I got mine from Chessington last year using sun tkts and got the fill 40 odd quid off. Only comment but be sure to check end date of Merlin pass offer otherwise you will only get money off full price pass.

Merlin entertainments have given me terrible customer service. Rude staff and still waiting for a refund they agreed to at the start of April.

If anyones looking to buy a day ticket with clubcard points or interested in accelerating their points earn, Tesco are currently running a promo where you can get 100 points per £1 e-book - see post for details

hotukdeals.com/dea…196

Sounds good in theory but I'll be surprised if they give you the refund if you used a free Sun ticket.

When does the 25% offer end?

AFAIK policy is to remove the face value of the ticket (e.g. what you actually paid)?

I also thought the same...but was surprised that the salesman said £41.40 off despite knowing my ticket was from Tesco.

Worth somebody ringing Merlin and/or some of the attractions to see what the policy on this actually is.

We only paid around £25 total for 4 x CWOA tickets off ebay (via The Sun) last September but they deducted full admission price off our annual passes. Was no problem at all, I asked and they were very accommodating.

I think the OP bought a Family pass so you are right.

So for an individual it would be £119 - £41.40 = £77.60 (usually £159)

From other people comments, it sounds like a policy to refund full ticket price. Ringing them will just make things complicated.

Theres also so many varying prices for these tickets e.g. half price tickets, free tickets, 20% off etc I think it would be very difficult for staff to know what each customer actually paid for it. I doubt they have got any sophisticated tracking mechanism although could be wrong.

Agreed they are shocking to deal with.

I would be careful just incase one of them doesn't let you use the tesco ticket for refund.

Thanks for taking the time to open this thread and post your thoughts. Much appreciated. I can only think it's your own behaviour causing the rudeness as in the countless times I've been with my family over the past few years, I can't think of 1 occasion to grumble about the customer service at any Merlin group attraction.

If you're using Sun tickets and they refuse discount then while in the park just look for a discarded ticket, there's usually loads on the floor, you just need one that doesn't say complimentary.

The actual price is £89 - £41.40 + £12.50 (Tesco points) = £60.10 (and not £47.60)

Voting Hot as its still very good price for annual pass.

I'd been looking forward to this, thanks.

If you have £50 tesco clubcard points ( i know that too many points) then you can get merlin pass for £50... I know you are paying cash here... but avoids the hassle of one time travel for those who don't intend too just for the ticket price refund + 25% offer...

Has anyone got the refund +25% discount for the Merlin upgrade in Thorpe Park or Legoland

We're not going until July 4th - damn damn damn!!!

The family price is per person.

It should work anywhere, including Sealife centres, etc.

Its a good deal, we got the passes in the January sale, done some bits at Blackpool, been to the ones at the Trafford Centre, we live quite local so quite good for us.

They're doing BOGOF or similar on Kellogs Variety Packs or were, so good if you want to save some Tesco points.

Can anyone confirm these will work with the free sun tickets? And how do you claim the money off cos by the time you've gone into the park, you've surrendered your tickets - do you have to buy it at the entrance. If I could be sure they'd take the Sun tickets, I'd have a run down there just to get the pass

This is on the LEGOLAND website:

Can I redeem the cost of my 1-day ticket against the price of an Annual Pass?
Yes. To do this you must upgrade to an Annual Pass on the day you visit the park. Complimentary tickets with a zero value cannot be redeemed against the cost of an Annual Pass.

I did it in Alton Towers and you can do it anytime of the day. You don't surrender your tickets at enterence.

Would this work if I visit Madame Tussauds with 2for1 voucher? Can I then exchange it there towards a Merlin pass?

Damn it. ordered £50 pass from tesco and paid £250 for other 3.... Can I get this refunded in order to get £60 off the 3?

I doubt it, as you'd need to show them the tickets you used to get in, etc. and needed to redeem on the day. Its not a general discount but only for those who've got into a place with a cheap ticket and upgraded to an annual pass on the day.

Presume family pass is two adults and two children? So rather than buying two idividual passes, could you not just buy and use a family pass?

If Merlin stick to their rules this offer wont work as their policy it to refund only the face value of the ticket you entered with so if you do 2 for 1 etc you wont both get the full £48 of your merlin pass. IMO they are worth every penny off the full price our merlin pass year has just ended and the 3 of us saved almost £3000 on 34 magic days out!

Oh and by the way Merlin staff aren't rude most of them are fantastic and the ones that aren't have likely been made that way be a succession of arsy customers!

OP said tesco tickets which when you take 4x value of £12.50 would be about £48.
