Bit confused here as I posted the very same deal a few minutes before this one, yet mine was deleted and marked as spam!?
Absolute bargain this is will save me a fortune.
Good deal but I can't believe you can't get into some of the London stuff during August! Buy a year long pass but can't use it during summer holidays when you want lots of days out, slight con me thinks!

Moan over good deal have some heat
You can put cash towards and upgrade to a premium pass can't remember how much but it means no blackout days we get them every other year and even better value if you visiting blackpool no queing for the tower sealife or tussauds and as many visits as you like heat added
Just about to post this but saw it had just been posted a few mins ago. Absolute bargain - just picked up 5 tickets for £175 tescos vouchers compared with £438.75 which was the best discounted cash price I was able to find online. Hot Hot Hot...
not had one of these before, so when it is black out is it only the following you cant go to? Can I still visit the theme parks and legoland etc that arnt listed below say in the easter holidays or summer holiday?
No entry during the month of August to The EDF Energy London Eye, Madame Tussauds London, London Dungeon and SEA LIFE London Aquarium. No entry to LEGOLAND Windsor Resort before 2pm during August.

Thank you - I need to get four for my family, but didn't have quite enough vouchers. Your deal has meant I could do it YAY !!!!

I think you can pay an extra £35 to upgrade to a Premium Annual Pass - well worth it for being able to do all the London things. Kids are getting a bit bored of the London Eye now (_;)
How much would you have to spend in tesco to get £35 worth of vouchers?

Edit, just found out via the Tesco website the points system
£1 spend in tesco = 1 point
100 points = £1 in vouchers
£35 of vouchers = £3500! needed to spend in Tesco

If I was to buy one does anyone know the discounts offered when you buy … If I was to buy one does anyone know the discounts offered when you buy 'normal' tickets to these attractions? Say if I went to Thorpe Park armed with just one Merlin would everyone else with me get in cheaper? and by how much?

No - your friends would not get in cheaper. You however would get in FREE - Once you have your pass that is you admission free for a year - here are the benefits you would receive...

LEGOLAND® Windsor
Adults £21.60 / Children £17.10

LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre
Adults £8.10 / Children £8.10

Warwick Castle
Castle only: Adults £10.80 / Children £7.80

SEA LIFE
Birmingham: Adults £9.00 / Children £7.70
Great Yarmouth: Adults £7.20 / Children £5.40

The following exclusion dates apply to the Standard Merlin Annual Pass: No entry during the month of August to The EDF Energy London Eye, Madame Tussauds London, London Dungeon and SEA LIFE London Aquarium. Fright Nights at THORPE PARK are subject to a £5 event fee and other events may also be subject to an event fee. No entry on 14 February or from 27 – 31 July at The EDF Energy London Eye. No entry from 29 - 31 October to The EDF Energy London Eye and the London Dungeon. Attraction parking fees are not included. Attractions included are subject to change.

I've had these passes before and managed to get much, much more than my money's worth, even with the restrictions. I got them mid-July, used them (in conjunction with the £9/£19 Travelodge rooms) for 3 days at Alton Towers and then a day in London (London Eye/Madame Tussauds). As we had got them mid-July, I was able to use them again the following year at the start of July, when the Scottish schools were on holiday. Well worth the £35, if you have enough Clubcard vouchers.
Remember only the premium passes include parking which can be upto 6 quid a visit if you go often you'd be better off upgrading it would have cost us 130 in parking alone

Theme Parks aren't my thing at all but even I know this is an unbelievably good deal
what a shame i only have about £30 in vouchers and am lookjing for a family of 4!! oh well... any ideas??
Unfortunately, I've only got enough points for one voucher which I've just purchased. Nowhere did it ask me to enter personal details. I thought these passes were personalised to stop them being handed to friends and family? Can anyone confirm what the deal is?
I'm thinking that if they're not personalised I'll give a mate 35 pounds and get them to buy me a second pass.

I think they only send you a clubcard token which has only your last name. So, it can be used by other family members (if they use the same last name).

The actual merlin pass start from the date of exchange of the 'token' at any of the attractions.

I NEVER use I store (even on the double up promotions) as you always get much better deals with rewards and save a lot more money long term.

So what did you expect? A free ticket with a £50 spend?

That £35 of vouchers is actually buying you about £150 worth of annual pass, so it's actually about 4% of that £3500 spend you are getting back. If you use a Tesco credit card you get more points plus points on everything else you buy, and there are frequent special offers with extra points both in store and sent out by post, so it's going to be less than £3500 for most regular Tesco shoppers.
4% or more given back to you is actually a pretty good deal. What other store gives that much back when you buy from them?

Don't think I have ever used mine in store. Just a waste...I mean you can get 4x the value for loads of restaurants and things like this.

When I click on clubcard checkout, I get the error

I've got nearly £120 in vouchers at the moment. Just about everything I buy goes on my Tesco credit card which gives me additional Tesco points. The credit card gives additional protection when you buy large items anyway, but assuming you pay it all off every month you may as well use a cash back or points back credit card all the time. Why miss out on free stuff?

Thanks Kaku Lala.
So our household, where my partner has the tescos card, cannot buy a pass for me or my son as we have different surnames? Must be a Tory running this scheme.
Edited by: "redchris" 27th Mar 2012
@redchris - I've had no problems buying my inlaws tickets to things on Tesco Clubcard points in the past and they have different surnames. Give the Tesco clubcard people a call; they are usually quite helpful about these sorts of things.
1 hour after first post and 8183 left. They are going fast!

No - a day's pass. Someone above was asking about if being a Merlin Passholder got you discounts on daily passes.
BARGAINTIME

When you go to the theme park to exchange your voucher for a Merlin Pass, you should be able to request an upgrade and pay £35 at this point.
The voucher is just simply for the pass they only become personalised when you collect the actual card and give details and your photo etc . Also the pass for a family of three can now be used for 3 adults before it was two adults and.a child or two.children one adult I paid.95 to renew to a premium pass with my girlfriend and her mum this year

Oh, thats a good saving though
Thank you JamesS and Spod for clarifying.
Darn! Its times like this I wish I started collecting earlier rather than thinking collecting the points was no real good (as most point systems are)!
