I imagine the price will change the second I press submit, but for a now at least these are currently at quite a low price. Seems to be in both Walnut and Earth Brown in all sizes.

Not waterproof....but it's still summer so no rain for a while ;o)

They seem to bounce between this price and £55ish, but a good buy @ £46.75. I like Moabs

Must not buy more merrells!

Thought I'd try these as a change from my usual Merrel chameleon wrap slams, which are soooo comfy, hope these are just as good.

Free returns if not

I wouldn't mind another cheap pair of the mids, has anyone seen any around the £50 mark?

Are these as good as Salomons? I've had them in the past and they've been great!

Better with waterproof as it always rains here or is wet and muddy

thanks OP. ordered last night as exact replacements for my very worn ones. very good and comfy for dog walking.

I am from the school of Gore-Tex liners are sometimes more of a hassle. Especially on hotter days.

1. They're sweaty
2. Once water is in it's not coming out. So if your traversing a stream then you have to stop and then empty them.
3. They take ages to dry out if the above happens.

Obviously GTX has it's place, but more on winter boots.

Which ones? If we're talking the XA Pros or X Ultra 2s then I would say for build quality the Salomons probably are better, but then they are more expensive. And it's a minor thing, but Merrells come in fairly sensible colours, whereas Salmon's, the XAs at any rate, seem to come in the most lairy colours possible. But then some like that, so it's purely a personal opinion thing.

If you are actually thinking of doing hiking, you probably want the mid boot Moab's with shoes, you have no ankle support at all w/ shoes.

Stuff like twigs and stones can just fall into the gap between foot and shoe. Same with mid boot but much less when sliding down shale rocks and such.

I guess it's a personal thing, as I just can't get on with boots. Find them too restrictive.

...but then I do most my hiking in these:

If it gets proper stone-in-shoe-city, then I have these:

Cheers but I'm an 8.5

Not available in my size unfortunately, but heat added. I have an old pair which I still wear daily, a replacement pair waiting in the wings, and find them the most comfortable shoe I've ever had.

Great long lasting shoes...I love mine...pretty sure I paid a lot more for them from the high Street

Many thanks for your post, Splashmo. Ordered a size 8 for my husband, and they are just what he wanted. They are are a trainer-sized version of his old mens moab mid gtx boots and will be ideal for treks on holiday.
On a plus note - they are made in Vietnam, rather than China, which some reviewers on Amazon expressed concerns about.. A good find at this price!
