My Berghaus Expeditors arrived this morning, tempted to get these too as Merrill get good reviews, but I'm struggling to find any volume of reviews, the 2 star reviewon Amazon about poor build quality is telling me to stick to the Berghaus ones. I've had my current Berghaus boots for close on 10 years and although the soles are losing some of their grip they're still as waterproof as wellies in shallow puddles.

Has anyone bought Merrell shoes before if so could you tell me are they true to size?I'm not after this pair, but had been looking at Merell shoes today and liked the look of a couple of models
Good deal, but two points to note

1) Traction is not good on new Merrell shoes as they have changed the material used for the sole of the shoe (I think they call it Vibram). The result is any moisture on the sole make it very slippery which is not good for outdoor shoes. I have had 2 pairs of Merrell Intercept shoes and both have had this problem, which has been discussed a lot on Internet forums. As an example I walked into a supermarket after walking through a wet car park and nearly fell on my butt when my Merrell shoes slipped in store. I’ve had the same issue out walking when stepping on rocks - almost no grip at all

2) Sizing is small - I take a size 7.5 shoe and had to get a size 9 in Merrell shoes
Brought a pair recently in blacks for £100 which I thought was a good deal. Very pleased with them so far. Probably the most comfortable boots I have ever worn.

Interesting, i nearly went over the other day going from a walk onto a hard floor in a pub.

Size wise I found mine a bit tight on the little toe so if i got another pair id go + 0.5 size or maybe +1 incase of thick socks.
The Merrill I've bought have all been true to size, but go up a half size for better comfort (good socks). Most comfy boots I've used and dont regret the cost at all!
Does anyone know the wiggle returns policy? Is it free?

You brought them for £100? Even getting them from one place to another by Uber is cheaper.
Good shoes
Thank you! £47 is a bargain!!
Just purchased, thanks

I have one pair of Merrell shoes and they still going after 5 years! Although my wife is telling me I should bin them as they have 2 small rips and sole well worn but they are still waterproof!

Looks like they have changed the sole on this boot. It is very different to my Vibram sole..

Most comfortable boot I have ever had..

I think Vibram is a brand rather than a specific material - they make different soles for different purposes, so should be possible to look up.

I wear Merrill's a lot, but haven't tried these. I usually find they fit quite small so usually end up a size above what I usually get. I do have fairly broad feet though, so if you're narrow it could be less of an issue

All the soles look very different, be keen to hear how they perform when the sole us wet
Oos
I have always found Merrell very comfortable, and I have feet problems so I like comfort & grip.
They do have vibram sole and I agree with other comments regarding if you walk in to a supermarket it feels a bit slippery for the first few steps if coming from wet ground, but it soon grips. I have had mine for about four years and use then about 3 days a week and they are excellent.
Blue is a bit off putting, but fantastic price

Thanks, next time you're out and the soles are wet can you try and walk on a slippery surface (is some rocks). Would be good to know if they are grippy or slippery

I am on holiday now with different shoes. Coming back today so will check size of my current Merrell shoes, but I can definitely say they are not half and a size bigger than normal. I think they were exactly the size I normally wear or at most half a size bigger. Will confirm when I get home tonight. I hope theis offer won't disappear by then.

These look to have the same sole material as the Intercept so I expect them to have little or no grip when damp, which is not good for a walking boot/shoe.
Shame - hardly any sizes left.

Got loads of Merrells - they always come up small so order 0.5 a size bigger would be my advice
