METAL GEAR SURVIVE is a survival action game in an alternative universe. In a struggle to survive, and understand this new environment, players engage in both a Single Play and connected CO-OP Play. In the battle for survival scavenged materials must be wrought into usable items, gear and weapons if you are to have any hope of making it home.

Despite all the negativity surrounding this game, I'm actually really enjoying it myself.

I absolutely loved MGS 1-3, played them all multiple times when I was younger. I played most of 4 round a cousin's house, and haven't played 5 at all. So I guess I'd be classed as a casual/ex MGS fan. But the main thing to bear in mind is this is not actually a MGS game, if you go in thinking that you might find you enjoy it.

The game itself is pretty addictive, you can play it for ages progressing the story or you can just have little sessions building up resources or playing the scavenger mode. It's pretty slow to start off and it can feel quite punishing how quickly your food/water/oxygen levels go down, but stick with it and you'll find them much more manageable (I think I'm nearing the end of the storyline now, and I have far more water and food than I need)

Basically don't write this game off until you try it, especially at this price. As I say I know I may be in the minority, but I'm really enjoying it right now.

I know
I voted hot but now want to puke.
If you like paying for save slots then this is the game for you otherwise I would pass.
Can't say I didn't expect this to drop to this price. Absolute flop and disgrace of a release.
a safe bet for gwg and ps+

I wouldn't even bother 'purchasing' it honestly. I just watched the final boss battle on YT and saved myself the tedium of playing through the thing.

Pay to save. That's next level up from pay to win loot boxes.

If you like this and have NOT played MGS5 then you really should go play that game. It's a masterpiece compared to this tripe.

I'm sure I will play it at some time, I've got both Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain through PS Plus and Games With Gold so I probably should play them. I've got such a backlog of games though and not a lot of time to play these days so I prefer games you can just play in small bursts. Like I say I'm really enjoying Survive though, I think it's had a lot of unfair criticism but each to their own.

There is no "New Game+" mode. It really is "Pay to Save" as you wouldn't be able to restart the story mode unless you completely delete your role playing character with level up system and upgrades.

You get free coins for just logging in and also from taking part in the special events (there's one on at the minute). So from logging in for a few weeks you would have enough coins to get a new character slot if you really wanted one.
The last MGO apparently also had the same system and nobody cried about that

The point I think is that noone should really have to. DLC - fair enough. A save slot? Come on, now

It's a budget game and it's a 2nd character slot which you don't need unless you want to do the story again and if you did, you'd already have built up enough free coins to get one by that point.
None of us like microtransactions or the fact that they're now a normal part of gaming these days, but this game was about £20 at launch and as I said you don't need to spend any money on other stuff at all. If I'd have paid £40 at launch and really needed a 2nd character or expedition team then it probably would have bothered me.
I got it at launch and hammered it for weeks. Got pretty much all of the base upgrades and done all base digs and got to scout lvl65. I only stopped playing because I need to try to clear some of my backlog of games but I definitely got my moneys worth from it. I think I had over 1000 free coins but used them to speed up the base digs so that I could move on to other games

Budget or not, I wouldn't touch this if it was free. Glad you enjoyed it though genuinely interested to know which games you have in your backlog that you didn't play because of this one.

COD WW2 campaign ( which I've now just finished), telltale Batman ( also now finished), Hellblade: Senuas Sacrifice (just started), Assassins Creed Origins: Curse of the Pharaohs ( also now finished), Assassins Creed Rogue, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Wolfenstein 1&2, SW Battlefront 2 campaign, Resident Evil 7, plus a lot of the recent PSN+ games

I think I'd probably still be dipping in to Survive co op if there were more people on my friends list playing it. It's a shame a lot of people are just assuming it's rubbish without giving it a chance as most who do spend an hour or so on it actually end up enjoying it
I wish I could forget this ever come out! Where’s a neuralyzer well you need one
