Nah .. I'm good.
Can't be free mate. £10 for the save file needs to be added to the title too.
Still costs time to play. Not worth.
Out of curiosity, how many of the people here have actually tried it? (And not just the beta, the single player part as well)

I honestly think it's a really good game, no it's not a Metal Gear Solid game, yes there was a load of problems between Hideo Kojima and Konami, but if you ignore those (frankly irrelevant) facts there's actually a pretty enjoyable game there.

Of course that's just my opinion, and full disclosure I'm not a diehard MGS fan. I absolutely loved 1-3, played them through so many times, I still get goosebumps when I hear the MGS2 theme tune But then I only played 4 on a friend's PS3, and haven't played 5 at all.

Honestly though, give this game a go if you haven't already, you might find you actually enjoy it. It's a shame it got so much bad press on release because I think a lot of people trash it without ever trying it (if you have played it though and still don't like it that's fair enough, each to their own)

I promised myself I never post deal for this game. I still kept it as this is a “freebie”.

And cost of ps+ membership.
Ill keep my bandwidth

Didnt this game release this year? And it already has a free trial
I would get it but I have no time to try it this weekend. Will buy it when it's a fiver or on ps
Not even for free.
Have Konami done a secret deal with Sony for this promo? Sony gains nothing from this.
Konami seem like a sinking ship now, there isnt one top title in any genre.

Can anyone name a Ps4 title that offered a free trial months after release? I can't think of 1 single game. I know demos have released after the full game did (which defeats the point in the demo)

Fully agree with the above!
Metal Gear Pokey Stick is clearly doing Konami wonders.
Saving me from downloading the cracked PC version to try. Thanks

haven't played 5 at all.

This is the problem, and probably why you are ok with this game. This game uses a lot of mechanics and assets from 5 and ****s all over them to make a boring game. The parts that you do like are probably done infinitely better in Phantom Pain (which is a fantastic game).

Sometimes game reviews/ game footage are all you neee to know a game is not worth your time. This is one of those games.

Also, and this may just be me being old school, I don't want anything to do with any game that charges money for save slots. To my mind that's an utterly abhorrent practice and I don't want to support it in any way, even by playing it for free.

Not that I'm trying to negate or belittle the enjoyment you got out of it, more power to you if you had fun playing it. I just think this one of those situations where a sufficient picture has been painted by reviews (both from critics and users) for a majority of people to know they wouldn't enjoy playing this.

That's a fair point, as I say I haven't played 5 (although I think I have it on both ps4 and xb1 now, lol) so to me a lot of the mechanics are new and interesting. If I'd played 5 before this game though I might not have been such a fan of it.

I really should get around to playing 5, although I have such a backlog of games and so little time to play them these days (soon to be even less time I fear as I have a new arrival coming in a couple of months )

Again that's fair enough, if you don't think it will be a game for you then I'm not going to try to change your mind, I just wanted to point out for people who are on the fence it's at least worth giving it a try.

The save slot thing is pretty cheeky to be honest, although I haven't found it to be an issue personally. I'm happy with just one character as you're constantly leveling them up and improving their gear, I wouldn't want to start again from scratch. Also you could earn the currency needed to buy it in-game, granted it would probably take awhile to get enough and a lot of grinding but it's possible without spending any money. But yeah I do think it was unnecessary hiding it behind a paywall, just have it unlock after u complete the game.

Anyway I think I'm rambling now, you've got valid points why you aren't a fan of the game and that's fair enough, as I say each to their own. I do get the feeling I'm in the minority by enjoying this game, lol, but there are a few of us who exist out there
I played the Beta and that told me all I needed to know about this game.

No thank you but have some heat.

If you play this and you have not even played MGS5. Shame on you.

The elements and fundamental game mechanics of this garbage is based on 5. It's just like you are praising a cheap but overpriced knock-off product without the appreciation of the original.

You know Konami are desperate when they are basically giving this game away.
Picked up for £10 from Smyths, hoping it’s decent

^This. This game has nothing to do with Metal Gear, and just uses the name to try and generate interest. If they want to use the engine, fair enough, but kicking out Kojima whilst continuing to use his brainchild is not right.

@theeighthday , MGSV is a fantastic game and well worth a playthrough. The problem with Konami trading on the Metal Gear name is that sub-par games like this will detract from the quality of the original
Lol all these stupid comments.

The game is actually alright. Sure it's not perfect, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game.

No you don't need to spend money to save the game. It's a new character slot not a save slot that you have to pay for, but you'll only want one character anyway.

If you haven't played the game then you can't really have an opinion on it. Blindly following other people's views and opinions like sheeps instead of creating your own.... Wow.

I played throughout the entire game without poking anything. The spear is an optional weapon.

Wrong, and the fact it has 16 likes shows how many people just blindly believe the internet these days.
I think by the sounds of it I'm gonna have to give MGSV a go, like I said I used to absolutely love the MGS games. That was back in the days though when I had all the time in the world to play games, lol, now I look for ones I can just pick up and play in small bursts. I dunno when I'll get around to it though as I currently have Kingdom Hearts 2.8 on its way so that's gonna keep me busy for awhile.

Arcandpie have u played MGSV? I'm genuinely interested to know what similarities they have, what they added or took out for Survive. I wholeheartedly agree people should try things out themselves before completely dismissing them, and this free weekend would be the perfect opportunity for them to try it. This game kept me occupied for the past month, and while I feel I've pretty much done all it offers for now, I certainly got my money's worth out of it.

Hey dude,

Yes I've played mgs5 a few times, it is different but it uses a lot of the same assets, textures etc. But gameplay is different to a degree because it's not a metal gear game really.

It's genuinely fun, I think you will enjoy it more then you think you will. It does get repetitive if you make it repetitive, like you can genuinely go through the game using the same traps and same weapons. But you can choose to spice it up.

It's a shame people dismiss it so easily, it's not perfect, maybe not even "great" but it's certainly not bad and it's fun!

Hey dude, yeah I've played through Survive and thoroughly enjoyed it, MGS5 is the one I haven't played, lol (I know, I'm bit backwards)

I get why some people would say the game's too repetitive, but honestly I can't think of any game that isn't. And like you say if you mix up what weapons and gear you use it can change the way you play (although I could never bear to part with my trusty bow, no pokey stick for me :-p)

Glad to find someone else who enjoyed the game though, like I say I certainly feel I got my money's worth out of it.
