This is almost as good as it can get for the price, apart from the fact it doesnt have any mesh protection from the spitting of wood logs. I could make shift some, but my other concern is you may have to be fairly close to this to actually feel the heat. Round fit pits have more surface area to spread the heat out.

We have a cast iron chiminea which is great. Had it about 6 yrs and still solid. They still do them for about £40 at B&Q.

You will go through a lot of wood in this. With it being so open, it can draw air in at will burning faster, and with all 4 sides open, the heat will easily escape rather than like a normal chimnea focusing it just on the side of open grate.

You got a pic of it?

41023447-JqD2p.jpgMy uncle made one of these not too long ago, just stacked them on top of each other, few stitches of weld round the side and voila. He did say he might add a plate to the top to stop the smoke coming out of the smaller holes round the side. Could probably do with a chimney on top too. But total cost for that was the price of a welding rod or 2 as the wheels were scrap anyway

Looks good! Just a note it isn't stainless steel so will probably be a little flimsy!

A little flimsy? It weighs 5kgs! A basic cast iron chiminea will weigh 30kgs+
What’s the story these days? Are these environment killers?

Blimey....I got a fire pit locally made from 2 van wheels.... It's pretty hefty, must be well over 20kg. Cost me less too.
This deal is cold for me.

A good upcycled futepit choice is the drum from a washing machine or tumble dryer.

Reminds me of a wood burner a mate made from an empty old gas bottle that worked a treat in his allotment shed.

All the chimineas at B&Q seem to be steel now?:

Don't buy! We had this and was a rusty bit of junk in a few months x
Good for money even if only lasts a year. Ordered, thank you.

Wouldn't surprise me. The amount of people who park their 4x4s in electric charging points, or "protest" environmentalism by taking their cars and tractors out to a field and revving them till they've burned all the fuel...

Now I like this great idea!
Got mine today- it’s terrible quality, takes forever to assemble and it’s flimsy , I either have something missing or the top part doesn’t stand above as on the photo it just sits on top. Tempted to put it in the bin.
