These songs are from their first two albums, so congrats on that comment
Still remember paying 30 quid for the Cunning Stunts DVD & thinking wow İ change the angle of the song, my life was complete! oO
Nothing but scorn for this ridiculous and now wildly overrated band since the Napster debacle. They are an embarrassment to rock music.
Cant believe the negative comments they are still going strong new album is awesome, they keep going for the fans
plus napster was ages ago you NikLP are the embarrassment!
Will be great, but you won't be able to download it on a mobile/tablet - has to be pc only.
Was going after Napster a bad move? It certainly damaged their reputation in my opinion. For a band and a scene that was in part built on bootleg tapes, it seemed wrong to go after the internet ages equivilent.

This was a time when the recording industry was p***ing its pants though and actively seeking to lock people up for downloading a few mp3s. Who knows how much of the push against Napster came from the band themselves or their management. I'm sure (I hope) if asked, and were truthful, they would say they regret it.

So, some free music. If you like Metallica download it, if not, don't. For me, I cannot get along with James Hetfields cringeworthy singing style thse days - but some tracks from the first two records, so I guess it is hot

Good God, people are still banging on about Napster! It's been 17 years now, give it a break!

As someone who was bought up on a diet of their early stuff, I think the new albums are sounding good - certainly a relief after their 'bad turn' with St. Anger.

This is a great deal for anyone who don't know much about Metallica (or much about their early work, at least), as I presume most of the commenters here already have these tracks.

Heat from me
Anyone else done all the membership stuff (verifying email address and so on) but then getting: "Free downloads are not available for this item" when they click through?
I voted hot but I'm not the greatest fan of their pre-1998 (Load) stage.

'they're' not 'their' - Nothing shows a hard core Metallica fan more than polite grammar correction.
I was the person that liked St.Anger

Why are you here then? Do you always go out of your way to comment on things you don't like?
Not a big fan myself but decent band give away free tracks from earlier albums, so really what is there is to moan about?

Napster eh? Lars forever lost my respect for his dummy throwing on that one.
Lost any respect in the Napster move.

Also charging £96.50 for Glasgow Hydro in October.

They ain't changed, money grabbing tosspots
Remasters sound great!

Kind of lost interest in them after black album and that was borderline for me, been watching a few videos of live performances this year they are sounding pretty good again
a) These are from Ride The Lightning and Kill 'em All
b) By going after Napster, they helped to ensure the viability of services like Spotify & Apple Music, and really, is that a reason not to listen to them?
c) Yes, they were s**t for 25 years, but (to my ears) they're past that now, and despite Hardwired being way too long, it's really pretty good.

Thanks OP - heat added.

Already have them.. downloaded them a long time ago
Watched Some Kind of Monster recently (currently on Netflix) really enjoyed it, fair play to them for letting it be released, it really didn't show them at their best.

Free legal music, have some heat.

Awesome, downloaded!

Yes, damn them for doing a series of concerts with average priced tickets. You failed to mention that £96.50 was the top tier price and cheapskates could get seats in the gods for under £60. You also didn't mention that all their tickets come with either a free download of the new album, or a CD copy for price of P&P. Which other bands are doing that?

£96.50 for Standing Tickets.

Those cheap £60 tickets in the Gods, are the normal standing prices for near everyone else.

£30 more expensive than other artists, but oh look a free album download.
Hardly counts as "free".
