Metro 2033 Redux In 2013, the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.
The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station Cities struggle for survival, both with each other and the mutant horrors that await outside.
You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised underground. Having never ventured beyond the city limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat.
Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.
But what if the real threat comes from within?

I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the future Epic decided to close down the store as unprofitable and all the free games ceased to be accessible with the library going down the drain

Google is worth nearly $800bn but they close things down on an almost monthly basis. No company keeps operating something long term unless it’s having a positive impact on their cash flow. With the higher cuts giving to publishers and the amount of money they throw at publishers to provide free games and to be exclusive on the platform then I'm not sure they will be making enough to cover the required development costs, hence why they have missed nearly every date on t(did feature roadmap so far so it’s not like it’s certain they will keep it around long term.

Honestly I highly doubt it , the exclusive rights on games they keep grabbing are doing fairly well + Tencent so I can't see them going away any time soon. Which means more freebies for us

"Tencent is the largest video game publisher in the world and since 2012 has had a 40% ownership of Epic Games."

So how do you get this? Just PC or PlayStation as well?

Its available from 26 Sept. Right now the batman games are free instead. You just have to log into your account and then add them to the basket and place an order. No credit card details are necessary.
Very cool. Does the format make this effectively work as a free trial where you will need to pay to continue?

I’d like to know as well. Are these free forever once “purchased” or just free trial until a certain date?

Add PC as the platform to the title @Silence_Chief ?

Thanks, just did it!

@muppetrider

This is PC only via the "Epic Game Store client"

They are free to keep with no ongoing membership , or any payment of any kind.

When the games are released on the client just add to your basket and checkout , as it's free no card details are required.

Once you've set up an account you can grab the freebies from your phone by going to the website if you didn't have access to your pc.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to get through the games sooner rather than later :).

Wow, cannot fault Epic Games for all these free games, shame my laptop is so rubbish it can't play half of them!
Hereeee come the everything jokes
Daft question probably but how do you redeem this from Steam? I have no code only a receipt from Epic games? Tia

You don't - Epic are doing this to get people to use their thing instead of steam.
Can I use this launcher on my Nvidia shield?
Nice one!

The whole point of these free games is to create decent game libraries on the epic store, so people with them have a very good reason to keep the epic store installed and regularly go back to it. I think its working as i look at the epic store a lot, but i never go back to the other annoying launchers i have had to have for one or two games. Uplay, beth, origin, the gta one, etc.
Anyone actually think the redux version has worse lighting? I prefer the original

At the rate they're releasing these chunky games, I don't know if I could :). The Batman trilogy alone would take me ages!

Do you not realise that they are doing this to tempt people other than Fortshite kids on to their platform? They're not giving these games away out of the good of their hearts. It's literally a ploy to boost account numbers so they can market their Store and DRM to more publishers and act as a potential rival to Valve. EA ran a similar free game program in the early years of Origin.

A. They're claiming to be doing well, that's like Fifa investigating Fifa and finding no wrongdoing - nobody believes what they're saying!
B. If they are doing as well as you claim then it's unlikely they'd continue with freebies once they have their monopoly in place. Expect higher prices and maybe 1 new feature a year from the Epic Games Store - they don't exactly have a good history of doing things for the consumer's benefit.

The biggest grip with most people who have an online library is that we have already got an online library on steam and I don't want another launcher. So epic are quite clever in offering a very very good selection of free games for free every week allowing you to build a games library on epic for free relatively quickly. As someone who has a large library of games on steam, I can't speak for everyone but I personally have started using epic for games also sine my library with them has grown also. Well played epic.
Thanks for posting @Silence_Chief we have added your thread to the Highlights section
Epic Store has been nothing but good for me. And competition is a positive thing, when one company has a monopoly (as much as I like Steam).

So I look forward to them improving and doing more good things.

Make PC gaming great again!
