Michelin Pilot Sport 4
225/40 R18 Y (92)
Car Tyre - Reinforced

Michelin Pilot Sport 4
The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is a high performance tyre, developed with input from BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Porsche.

Michelin have designed the Pilot Sport 4 tyre with dynamic response technology - their use of Aramid and Nylon in the makeup of the tyre helps to ensure that the tyre is continually conforming to the contours of the road, delivering the best traction available for the conditions.

The tyre's tread compounds has been derived from Michelin's extensive experience in key motorsport events - such as Formula E and World Rally Championship.

The Pilot Sport 4 has a tyre compound featuring a unique blend of elastomers and hydrophobic Silica which helps the tyre to remain flexible - delivering excellent wet grip and reliable braking performances. The tyre's wide longitudinal grooves work to disperse surface water from the road surface, reducing the risk of aquaplaning.

Ultra-reactive tread pattern design adapts to the road to provide an excellent steering control
Wide and deep longitudinal grooves for top performance in wet conditions
Consistent performance over life of tyre

Same Factory, much cheaper compound and different moulds.
Thought I'd chip in on the Riken (UHP) vs Michelin PS4 tyres, with some photos.

The Riken recommendation is probably a good shout. Much like me using Barum as an equivalent to continental. But they aren’t the same I’ve got barums on my Astra which with the best will in the world will always be limited by other characteristics before the tyres get a chance to influence things. On my sportier cars I always bought pilot sports, conti sports were a little bit better but the pilot sports lasted about 50% longer.

There are 2 things in life you shouldn’t cheap out on, both are made of rubber....tyres and condoms,

Great spot OP. I make this £82.42 per tyre when including the delivery charge of £11.50 but agree with total price of £329.70. It’s a shame this is delivery only and doesn’t including fitting otherwise it would have been mega hot.
...hardly a deal without fitting

I'm not sure how to link eBay on here, but if you search eBay for Riken tyres and the size you want they're easy to find. £163 posted for 4 in this size...

You mean these?
With a "C" wet grip rating v "A" for Michelin, and a "72" dB noise rating v "71" for Michelin?
ebay.co.uk/itm…iaO
for those that want tyres, also check out F1 autocentres. They don't come up on google search (guess they didnt enough to google!) but I found the last 2 sets of tyres I purchased they have been the cheapest for me, Advan Neova and Michelin PS4.

This is only a good deal if you know of somewhere that fits them for free or really cheap for you.
Otherwise, it's a pretty standard price once fitting is taken into account.
Now that’s a wide tyre
Costco also good for Michelin tyres, esp when they have offer on
Just upgraded to these on my ST from PS3.

Much much grippier, particularly in the wet! Very impressed. Also noticeably more road noise however. Worth it

Hey all I know is I replaced my worn Michelin pilot sport 4s with these on my honda civic type r and it rides, handles and grips like a new car. And believe me it gets driven as a type r should!
Had very bad experience with black circles so be careful
Paid for brand new tyres but got used tyres, sent pictures as prof but no response whatsoever

Really I have 285 on the rear.

It’s in reference to the title
I'm counting down the days until the Pirelli P Zeros are ready to change on my Hyundai i30N as these are a lot better for grip compared to the Pirelli P Zeros, it's just a shame that the 235/35/19 are rarely discounted compared to the 225/40/18. Heat for the deal though.

Yes but he read the eBay description stating they’re made in the same factor :/

In that case you should have charged back on your credit card.

Meanwhile in the real world...
Nothing to do with these tyres but a heads up to those who haven’t used Blacn Circles before. I ordered tyres to be sent to my local tyre sent (a national chain) so I can get them fitted.

on the deliver day I got a notice that there was a delay and the tyres would be delivered the next day. This happened 3 more times before I rang Black circles. They stated my local centre had refused to take the tyre, speaking to the centre they said in fact Black Circles hadn’t even attempted delivery.

Not sure who was right or wrong, but was a huge pain in the ****. Just worth considering if you need tyres urgently and you are using Black circles.
Edited by moderator: "removed blacklisted word" 15th Sep
Another heads up on Blackcircles. I ordered 4 tyres to be fitted in the morning. Garage said they had refused the job initially but were told by Blackcircles I was desperate (I never actually spoke with anyone or stated I was desperate). The fitting ended up being as quick as the garage could accommodate which was 4pm so the day was wasted. I did ring up Blackcircles however and they asked me what I deemed to be a suitable refund (very strange). They offered £20, I told them £50 and they agreed for some reasons. Easy money back for me when they messed it up.

Are you saying these tyres are better then the Michelin ones ?
Why do these deals come just after I have purchased a new set.....

It's a good deal for PS4s this week, although they were cheaper a fortnight ago when I posted a deal for them and even cheaper a while back to via F1 Autocentres.
Cheaper on the deal costco have on michelin at the minute and a fitted price. (Although as always not everyone is a member)

Agreed I bought a car 14 months ago with Riken on the rear and they still look brand new with plenty of tread, really good grip can’t complain considering how cheap they are.

Everytime I go on the Costco website I can't find PS4s for 225/40/R18 92Y

I always get given pilot super sport or PS3s
How much does it cost to fit i.e can I bring this to Costco etc? Its all about the fitting. Anyone know?

Paid by debit card but that’s not the point. Is it okay to send second hand tyres to a customer who paid price for brand new?
And £148 in 225/45R18
