Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 AMP! Extreme Edition 4GB @ Micom - £490.25
This Zotac GTX 980 is one of the fastest graphics cards you can buy, retailing at Overclockers and Scan for £540. So at £490 with free delivery, I think it's a good deal. The faste… Read more

Looks like it was a good deal after all. Pricing glitch. At £562.15 now!!! Hope it will be honoured!!

That was my logic as well. My Zotac GTX 780 AMP is more powerful than the 780Ti and I imagine that this one will be more powerful than the 980Ti (stock speed at least) So for an extra £90, it might be worth the investment?

Haha true, just wanted to get the max card available now to save any upgrade itch when the 980 ti's come!

That's a very good price! Even reference boards are coming up for more than that. To be honest, any GTX 980 is going to be amazing. These Zotac boards are purely for those with more money than sense and for bragging rights I guess.

Dabs have it for £429, and the expired September code for £25 off brought it down to £404. It's been on pre-order for 1 1/2 weeks at the moment. They still have it for pre order for £429 though. Most places it's higher

MSI have seriously stepped up their game the past few gens. Their PE 670 was pretty much equivalent to a 680, and OCd further really well.

arent some of those charts for the 980?? seems a decent raft of deals approaching. Was scouring for benchmarks and the 780ti seems to come out slightly ahead of the 970. Difficult choice versus the maxwell architecture against raw power. Not hugely convinced by the 970, anyone else of the same mindset? perhaps its too early to get the benefit given most titles arent driver optimised.

I'm thinking of doing the same. They are still gathering bids on ebay, so I will find an MSI version of this card and then flog the 560ti's.

Wonder if I could flog my SLi'd 560Ti's?

Same with the gigabyte one. I actually prefer the gigabyte coolers too, but they do require a case with plenty of room for a long graphics card. You can get a palit 770 for £220 though..

It might be but this is the ROG version which is much cooler, quieter and probably about 10% more powerful than a standard GTX760. To be honest, as good as this is, I'd rather spend £210 on a R9 280x.

The Gigabyte version of this is only 210 quid on Amazon.

27", 8-Bit VA (like IPS), 1920x1080, LED TFT Monitor, BenQ GW2760HM £147.80 @ Micom

27", 8-Bit VA (like IPS), 1920x1080, LED TFT Monitor, BenQ GW2760HM £147.80 @ Micom
I've posted the slightly older model of this in the past, I reckon it's a great option, and now this improved version has come down in price, under the old model, woot! It's a VA … Read more

I ended up buying this for my Dad from ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/502558-benq-gw2760hm-27-led-vga-dvi-hdmi-monitor-9h-l9lla-tbe Tested it myself and I did notice that text is less sharp than on my Dell U2412M. I don't think it's just the fact that the monitor is larger whilst using the same amount of pixels (my Dell is actually 1920x1200, so the Benq has less pixels), the text just looks a bit smudged/blurry. I found the same comparing it to my Dad's Acer 24" IPS and the fact he has the DPI increased to 150% (he had it at 175% on the Acer but I reduced it to 150% for the Benq so he can see if that's OK for him) probably just makes it worse. For contrast/black levels it's amazing though. Ran X-Plane with the Benq side-by-side with his Acer and on a night flight, you can't see any details in the darkness on the Acer, apart from the odd star, whereas on the Benq you can see clouds, loads of stars, the details on the wings when the navigation/collision lights flash. Obviously you can turn the brightness/contrast up on the Acer and probably see more detail in the night but even at it's normal settings, the black looks grey-ish and not at all like a night sky, whereas the Benq makes you feel like you're looking at a real night scene. All the grounds lights sparkle/twinkle and are much more colour-rich as well. In daytime flights the difference isn't as noticeable at first but you do notice that the edges of grounds objects/field boundaries look quite jagged on the Acer, whereas on the Benq everything is just more smoothed out and less jarring. This was just with his on-board Intel GPU as well, which admittedly did struggle to manage 20fps with all that detail, so once I get him a decent graphics card I'm sure it will look better still. He hasn't said anything to me about the text being less sharp, so hopefully it won't be something that bothers him, otherwise I'll have to get him another monitor for office work (my Mum's got the Acer now!) and try and devise some clever mechanism so he can move the Benq into position when he wants to fly. I don't have any calibration equipment, so I just followed the advice in this article http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/benq_gw2750hm.htm and used their ICC profile from here http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/icc_profiles.htm#b which might not be perfect as all monitors are individual but is no doubt better than what I could have done by eye. Oh and this is definitely the updated flicker-free model, it says so all over the box!

Well, the "imac"panel is IPS, so a little better viewing angles and response time, but the picture quality on the VA BenQ is going to be very similar, with better black levels. The 1440p bit is the resolution, this deal is for a 1920x1080 screen, the LG IPS "imac" panel is 2560x1440, more dots in same space :)

Sorry I'm posting from Hulst app, how The new VA screens are comparable to 27" 1440p LG IPS "imac" panels?

Reviews you say... where! I can't find any complaints of motion blur related to these BenQ VAs! And I have personal experience of FPS gaming on them - like you say, you don't? :) That DGM with the AU O panel would be similar to the one I had years ago, awful blur (but yeah lovely picture). The picture on the new BenQ VA is as good, ..... but without the blur! And yeah stop looking a bargain in the mouth people, who's voting cold on this! I've seen plenty of lame picture TN screens for more money get more heat than this. When the alternative is a 33% more expensive (at least!) IPS, or underwhelming TN, this is definitely a great choice!

I've found MSI boards to be quite good with a good BIOS setup. Would buy ahead of an ASUS but Gigabyte is my fav.

Do you mean Broadwell? Yes, that will work (depends on the board) but the next one (Skylake) is likely to have a different socket - just like Sandy/Ivy and Haswell/Broadwell. Intel definitely and absolutely do not care 1bit, that I am willing to bet. ;) The only time they "cared" a bit is when they were behind...

The "works with 4th and 5th edition" bit is just marketing hype, Intel aren't going to change the socket and immediately destroy the upgrade path for early adopters. B81 will be fine :)

Look here Pentium 20th Anniversary Edition G3258 Reaches 6861.7 MHz on MSI Motherboard of which the Z97M-G43 is one all i need now is some Liquid Nitrogen to cool it

I'm well aware of this, thanks. My point was that spreading the stupid notion that the CPU speed in Mhz is an accurate performance benchmark is idocy, as per the definition:

In terms of processing power for (low wattage) network attached storage devices, these (dual) 1.5ghz are very fast and are one of the best solutions and value for money around after cash back; especially in a multi use device like this. You should try to refrain from calling fellow hotukdeals members idiots as that can result in you being issued a warning for breaching the sites rules.

For what its worth the 'old' one has RAID that can do 0 or 1. For others you need software RAID. I imagine the updated one is the same.

Idiot alert, : http://www.tech-faq.com/cpu-speed.html
